What sound problems? I don't have a mic at the moment, but I can hear other players on Skype just fine. Perhaps it's a driver bug? What sound card do you have?
It depends on the problem, not much info in your post...
To add - I use Ventrilo on Win 7 Ultimate 64 with an onboard sound chip every day without any problems at all. If you are referring to Vent working then cutting out when you launch a game, make sure you have the 64 bit client and make sure it is run as admin. If you don't, vent will still work but you won't be able to hear anyone in games.
