DC started going down the drain years ago already.
Series filled with pseudo scientific horse crap.
But I loved Time Team for example, still their digging sites often turned into an archaeological disaster area Very Happy
And Scrap Heap was fun (the British version) Smile

I watch a lot of Discover Channel and Animal Planet. Mythbusters is fun but damn they're doing so many reruns these days.

problem with national geographic is that they have a large % of shows in SD Sad as crap as discovery can be at times, at least they are 24/7 in HD.

My problem lies with them trying to inject drama into pretty much everything and following the same formula.

Some guys building a bike which would be interesting by itself but they have to go and ham it up with (probably) fake tantrums to create 'tension' but it all has a happy ending.

Some guys chopping wood somewhere in the wilderness and 'omg omg this machine/truck broke' and 'how will we ever get this done?' bullshit.

Some guys fishing in the middle of nowhere and 'omg omg we haven't caught enough fish' and blah blah.

Some guys drilling for oil in the middle of nowhere and 'omg omg this thingamajig broke' and 'we're all going to die' and blah blah.

Some guys 'fighting' some whaling ships in the middle of nowhere and 'omg omg we're going to throw stinky butter at them and they'll be all stinky'.

It's not that. People build bikes, drill, fish, cut wood all over the world and face the same challenges or probably even bigger ones in countries that do not have the degree of mechanisation as the developed countries. Nobody makes such a fuss or drama about some small/big thing going wrong somewhere.

You could make a discovery channel type program for any profession because all jobs have their own problems/deadlines/challenges. I better not give those twats any more ideas. Razz

I don't pay TV license... I never open the door when they come or answer the letters that they send out regularly.
