Okay, we've seen a lot of good releases (Skyrim, DE:HR etc.) and some disappointing titles (Rage, MW3). However, taste is like the moon, it either shines or it's not there. I'm sure I've missed some titles, and the fact is that it's not the end of 2011 yet.
Let's see which of the current big names (up until November) have what it takes to be considered GOTY. 
(ps. there's a limit (10) to the number of poll alternatives available, hence the condensed list, i originally had 20)

Why include Assassin's Creed; Brotherhood, when Revelations comes out in a week and a few days? I think we should just do the tier system again or whatever, and voting should start at the end of December.
Not to mention- no Batman: Arkham City, which is extremely good.

oooh tough. for me its between witcher 2 and deus ex HR. both flawed games, but still the most enjoyable of the year for me.
and human_steel... wheres arkham city... yeah thats what every other fucking pc gamer is asking too

This year has produced so many fantastic games that GOTY almost feels null
I love Skyrim and it's without a doubt the best game i've played all year.. But I think GOTY should go collectively to the exellent producers this year.
DX:HR was just fantastic.
The Witcher managed to make me masturbate and think at the same time.
Rage made me learn .ini files in a way I never wanted to before.
Portal 2.. Come on..if that came out today...it would be a tight race between skyrim.
Just a fantastic year for games... I applaud the developers..they dun good.

Instead of these shitty shit, you could have put Batman, Magicka, Orcs Must Die, Total War Shogun 2, Anno 2070. Shit, even Minecraft is launching officially this year, so it has a place in such a poll.

my problem with skyrim is that i love the freedom, exploration, environment... so much to do, theres a lot in it...
BUT... i just dont like the combat/gameplay, and im not finding the core story to be staggeringly omg. yeah theres a lot of cool background stuff, but overall i prefer the stronger narrative and more enjoyable gameplay of w2 and deus ex.
its the same problem i guess i have with fallout 3 and nv... fantastic as exploration/journey simulators, but i never find the story or combat to be too fulfilling...
dont get me wrong, im enjoying skyrim a hell of a lot... but for a complete GAME package.. now that i think about it.. yeah ill probably say witcher 2 is my fav game of the year so far.
will arkham city top it? well that just depends if it comes out this year or not
also i havent tried saints row 3 yet... but i guess frant hated it because he didnt include it in his list?
