On my intel e2180 cpu i tried to overclock it by changing the 200 seting in bios to something more. Is that how you do it?

Here is a good read:

http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=515316

It is long, but is important, so don't cut corners, have a read.

This is also a good thread for overclocking the e2180:

People even share their settings. Smile

if you ean the fsb value, yes. Slowly increase it, each time reboot and test (with something like orthos) and repeat, if temps are fine but it becomes unstable, you have to start raising voltages etc.

its easy enough really Only thing important , TEMPS. Thats the only value that tells you if its going fine or not

Reinstall? Really or you're just shitting us? You should do some reading about your bios settings and how to reset them from within or manually by taking out the cmos battery.

yes resinstall was not needed at all. Doesnt boot because your overclocked settings are off slightly, be it voltage or cpu instruction option, or even ram clocks, even the timings on the ram can be finicky and if still locked down may need manually changing to loosen them up a bit..

reading is key for overclocking your system, not just for a step by step idea, but more of gathering knowledge on how things work together on the motherboard.. But overclocking will not mess up your HD OS install files, its 99% time the hardware not liking what you have set in bios..

Do some more reading and fiddling but in small steps is key Very Happy Check out the max voltages your cpu/ram/ etc can accept when altering vcore etc that is key along with temp monitoring.. As long as you dont over voltage set the hardware you shouldnt kill anything...

Actually, if the RAM is overclocked and doesn't work properly you can easily fudge up the system with corruption over the harddrive.
