Why are people always so eager to see this franchise go into things that would only make it lose what made it special?
We already have a fuckton of modern strategy games. If they moved into the squad based modern warfare, it would cease to be the game about massive armies, and become just another CoH clone.
They already pushed as far in time as they can and still remain this "order a huge blob of dudes around" thing (line-infantry era). I just cannot see TW still being TW with ordering 10 men squads around instead of a huge-fucking-army of tightly packed cannon fodder.
We always bitch about games changing too much. Splinter Cell games are not stealth any more. XCOM is not an fps game. Why should Total War become just another small-scale strategy game?
