720p starting to appear, 1080p soon. These are the regular versions for now
Extended will probably appear to coincide with The Hobbit release, but maybe before.

It's just silly that they bother to release the regular versions tbh. Ofc it's just to earn cash - cos they KNOW that people will buy them and proberbly buy the extended ones too once they are released... but who would wanna watch the regular ones?
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

What you mean who? LoTR fanatics who have to have every piece of LoTR. Like Blade Runner fanatics, for example, or Star Wars. Double dips with huge fanatic fanboy communities are very successful. :\

LOL, you can play 1080p on very cheap computers. All you need is a SSE3 dual core.

Your PC should be able to handle 2-3 1080p movies simultaneously. What player are you using?

@Anthirs - what video card you have? Just get MPCHC, if you have a good card, it will decode in that.
@Dingo - Only 720p for you for now.

I'll just say that Tolkein was right. He said his story could never have been made into a film. Peter Jackson has proved him right

Haven't tried playing 1080p with VLC yet but my experience with VLC is that it often uses a lot less CPU power to play vids than other media players. |
Nah, VLC uses very old Libavcodec package, and it really shows. On top of that, there are many (MANY) bugs in the splitters (MKV, MP4).

Actually his story was made into films. So, what do you mean exactly? Not 'good' films? Loss of content from book to films? Well, that goes without saying. Different mediums, of which I have the clever habit of never comparing
