Hello there! Smile

I always wondered how can i encode a dvd in anamorphic mode ( anamorhic resolutions) whithout increasing the bitrate and the size, for example:

different storage resolution, different display resolution

Display 1018x432 | Storage 716x432

Display 853x480 | Storage 720x480 Anamorphic

and what prog is most suitable for this ? megui ? gordian knot ? handbreak ?

In MeGUI you need to add a custom string to the command line: "--sar x:y".

Here are the values for DVD encoding:
NTSC 4:3 -> --sar 10:11
NTSC 16:9 -> --sar 40:33
PAL 4:3 -> --sar 12:11
PAL 16:9 -> --sar 16:11

you can do this in vdub or any of the alts...with xvid in the encoding dialog, select the more button across from the profile @ level, click on aspect ratio tab and check display aspect ratio then click one of the corresponding buttons that fits your AR

.. for those still using vdub

edit.. make sure to change it everytime depending on source AR it keeps that information unless done in batch.. blah

It does it automatically if you use the script creator. Who uses that? Razz
