my friends pc started acting weird, if he puts it to sleep it doesn't wake up afterwards, u have to flip psu's switch and it doesn't even work from the first try, i thought it was psu, then i tried this psu in another pc with similar config and it works just fine
so i tried another psu and now if u turn pc off from on/off button it turns itself back on almost instantly
i'm out of ideas coz i never experienced anything like this before, could it be that it's mobo's problem, i did tried all variation of bios settings but it didn't help, reseting it didn't helped either, tried with hd connected and without it
it worked, went to sleep perfectly before couple of days ago
mobo asus p5bmx-se with c2d and etc
psu first 480w and another is 300w, both psu's perform perfectly in another pc and run 24/7 stable
so any ideas?

its the mobo drivers i think, let him download the latest chipset drivers from company site.

it happens before i boot into windows, it worked perfectly with this same drivers, shit started to happen when he put it to sleep last time
i excluded power switch as well, by disconnecting it and using screwdriver

This looks like the auto shut down you get if a fan is broken or too slow (=overheating?)

temps are fine, system works stable in pre-boot also in windows, but if i try to put it to sleep or turn it off
a) with 480w psu it doesn't turn on i have to flip the switch sometimes several times
b) with 300w psu if i turn it on and try to turn off in dos or windows it switches itself on almost immediately

Dont understand b). You mean "itself off immediately" ? And it still can be a Fan that reports wrong RPM. Temp can be ok but you get the forced shut down. Early Award bios had some problems with power management, maybe try an update.

explaining b) if i turn off pc while it's in bios or dos it will turn itself on by itself, if i try to put it a sleep in windows it won't wake up altho it's turning itself on again

It's hardware/firmware related, then. Glitchy mobo, maybe ? Depending on the voltage ?
Any BIOS updates available ? Any magic jumpers to change ? Any BIOS options ?
Fat chance for all of them, I know.

bios is up to date, tried disabling on lan and other stuff, tried disabling ACPI completely, the only thing that does is cpu running on a single core
i'm just out of ideas and i think it's just mobo gone bad
EDIT: issue been resolved, topic can be closed.

Any chance he installed the latest but broken nvidia drivers? Beside the broken fan control they seem to fuck up sleep mode as well.
