M8s just phoned me, his phat ps3 has the YLOD, hes just brought a new ps3 slim, he wants to know if its possible to transfer his data to the new one, is it possible? and if it is, what does it involve?
hmm he will need to ghost the PS3 HDD to another phat ps3 (i think same hdd).
He'll then need to run the backup utility on the second phat, and then use the backup data on the slim.
i didnt think u could ghost ps3 hdd, as diff file system which is protected etc. ive also just read aswel, that to transfer data, the ps3 needs to be working, and you cant just take drive out and put into another phat ps3. so feck knows what hes gonna do!!

All of the data is stored on the HDD. Ghosting does BIT by BIT - file system doesn't matter.
