So. In the aftermath of playing Arkham Asylum and being pretty fired up for Batman I thought maybe I could get into the comics.
But boy! What a clusterfuck if I have ever seen one!
Can't they stay with one comic "Batman" ? Nooo. Instead there are like 4 or 5 different comics in which Batman appears that are all in some sort related to each other.
I suppose it's like that with most super hero comics?
Sooooo. If I wanted to get into the whole Batman comic thing should I just get the main Batman comic and ignore the tie ins and related stuff?
But they're really not making it easy for one to get into it.
It's hard enough to find the main continuity of the story Very Happy

Well, if there are some Batman comic fans here give me a couple of pointers on where to start Wink

The only comic I read the the moment is the walking dead. It is by far the best comic I have ever read and I have read tons not just from Marvel or DC either. You can find the comics online as well go ahead and find them read a few and you will find yourself buying them shortly after.

I even heard they are going to make a TV series out of it which I can see becoming a huge success.

I can +1 on a lot of what Mutantius has written down especially Preacher and Battle Pope, The Boys and of course Watchmen

I really enjoyed Wolverine v3 as well and Y - The Last Man.

Another just EPIC comic series is 100 bullets which runs for(surprise) 100 issues. I am addicted to that series atm and currently on no 68 Smile

Another thing you could look at is the two Garth Ennis Ghost Rider series. They are brilliantly drawn and a good read.

The latest comic I have read is Goon which like Battle Pope is a quirky humorous sidestep with some excellent original ideas and some great writing to boot. I highly recommend that.

I suggest some of the Warhammer 40,000 comics. Some of them are fantastic.

I recommend the Aliens graphics novels, they're incredible - even the cross-over series like Batman vs Aliens and Superman vs Aliens.

Yeah, but when the shit hits the fan, are you gonna rely on this crazy slut to save us ?!

We need Batman !

P.S.: Although I'd like to see a movie adaptation of that comic, starring Angelina Jolie.

You can try some of the "Vertigo" DC series. Neil Gaiman's Sandman is pretty outstanging, for example, if You like that sort of thing, at least. Same goes for Lucifer series, which is a Sandman's spin-off, based on Gaiman's Lucifer but by different authors. Starts with "The Morningstar option", and is quite entertaining too.

If into manga try Sword of Berserk by Kentaro Miura. Really nice, action filled, fantasy story.

THAT I can't answer. I really don't know the proper reading order, I'm afraid Sad

Try some of these;

Also don't forget the cross-overs! The Batman and Superman ones are especially good.

Also, while not comics, if you're a fan of Aliens -- you seriously need to read the novels. They are spectacular, though some might argue against the pretty obvious plagiarism (Hicks, Ripley, Bishop > Wilks, Billie, Bueller)

General Spears is especially awesome and was used in the fantastic AVP arcade game, as well as being the basis of the General Perez in Alien Resurrection.

yepp same here The Walking Dead is the only comic I read also and I friggin love it. AMC is going to make a series of it with Frank Darabont directing and producing and writing I think.

Hey welcome to comics...

For Batman you need to start with 'Batman The Dark Knight Returns'

This is day one for Batman, and has made him what he is today. Anything before is nothing.

This is a truely awsome comic, which you should definately purchase.

Also by Frank Millar and Klaus Janson are

Dark Knight Triumphant
Dark Knight Hunt the Dark Knight
Dark Knight The Dark Knight Falls

I've been looking high and low for CBR's of Dylan Dog in english. The only thing I've found so far is in italian.

I love some of the weirder stuff in magazines like Heavy Metal (esp. those made with oil paintings) and of course I just love Judge Dredd and other 2000AD comics (Strontium Dog etc.)
