|
 |
So today message says there is a new engine update for MS Essentials. I got to update- tries for like 5 minutes than gives an error. I uninstalled MS essentials, downloaded latest from site - then still needs to update to latest engine. Fails again. I then tried updating it when shutting down (all apps closed), still fails after it rebooted. MS Essentials updated fine on my other PC running XP. It wont update on Win7 64 Bit (Daz loader).
Anyone else able to update OK with todays patch?

worked ok for me it seems
I woke up with a reboot of the "system performed updates" and I have a new MS essen icon on desktop, that I removed when I first installed it.
and my essen says its up to date

Figured it out. I had to uninstall 'Malawarebytes' first. Once it was uninstalled, the new Essentials installed succesfully. So thats nice, now I can not run Malwarabytes at same time. I already had to reformat twice due to essentials not picking up trojans. When running both at same time, so far one would catch something the other would not. Now I guess I have to just run Essentials solo again.

If you're bumping into so many trojans, then you're doing something wrong.

hahaha. Usenet is the culprit. Tons of trojans. Well, since evidently it seems running only essentials is working for the majority, Ill continue to just use essentials. Ive perfected the clean install procedure for Windows 7 down to a science.

get windows installed, all your apps and drivers and image it.
what I do..so if I NEED to reformat, I dont have the pain of spending the next 4 days installing drivers and software as I realize "crap I forgot this." then 4 hours later "crap I forgot to install this too"

I actually keep all my important apps on a separate harddrive (I have 5 HD's currently installed). So, I only format one of the harddrives. Once installed, I just go down the list of apps I stored and install. It takes me a few hours overall, no biggie. Real simple.
