Just because its all there for free. Also I cant afford 3DStudio or Maya. As far as games go, most of them are really not worth $50+. Even the all mighty HL2 doesnt deserve my money yet. If some good mods come out, maybe I'll buy the retail.

razor1394, you forgot "because the games are too expencive & quality is to far in between". But most people just use warez to test a game if its good or not then buy the original. I still think more people would buy games if they were less expencive.

couple of reasons:
-because the games are too expensive
-Testing before buying
-Out of cash
-Mounting it, so no loading from the cd.

Because I am a cheap lazy cunt, who wants to try out games before I buy them. the Copyprotections slow down my loading times, and there is nowhere near to me that sells games.

Combination, too expensive so I can't afford to buy every game I want to try so by playing them first I know the ones I want. Also, it is very convient and easy to get.

I buy any good games (e.g. HL2, Farcry, Bloodlines Warcraft 3), but while waiting for those games to come out I play mediocre games I've downloaded.
I don't have enough money to buy all the mediocre games I play.

Easier and conveniant. Takes longer to actually go out and buy the game than leech it.
Plus there are very few titles worth buying.

Just another pharisaic teenager. |

I chose out of cash, what I really meant is that the games are too expensive!

Games are rarely worth the money.
Mainly because publishers (mostly) push devs to kill replayability. So people buy new titles. They pushed a bit too much though, it shows on the PC gaming market.
Console si still pretty much un-affected mainly due to dumbass market and huge ass publicity, which also grants them to power to make good sales on half assed games, which doesnt happen for PC.
Oh, how I wish we could just bypass those god damned publishers! Hell, I'd more than willingly download good games directly from the devs and then pay them via paypal or CC. I wouldnt even hesitate to pick a BitTorrent-ish solution, to save the devs some money(bandwith).
One condition though, those fuckers better not keep those mad prices! If I'm helping skip the publishers, I dont wanna pay their part... at least not fully. (devs areoften under-paid.)
So, I buy cause games are too expensive for what they usualy are worth.
And what pisses me off the MOST when I buy something is the GOD DAMN COPY PROTECTION!!!
I bought Dawn of War and cant even run it because I got Alcool / D-Tools runing!
thing is, I always have it running for clones of my bought games. Stupid shit!

It's not the real Injurious. It's an imposter.
on topic: I was at a friends house who has 56k. he got his copy of HL2 with his x800 and he was going to show me something in the game but it took about 15 minutes to load up because steam had to update and then authenticate. thats unbelieveable for a single player game. steam is like communism. good in theory, not always good in practice.

Reason for antivirus - Free ones tend to be as good or better than pay ones. Some of the most popular/ most expensive aren't even worth installing for free. Doesn't seem fair to pay for one that isn't any better than a free one, and they don't always stay ahead of the pack.
Reason for games - Many games come free with a video card, or some other package. The also are way overpriced just to maximize profits. I don't feel we should be charged merchandizing, packaging, and distrobution when the games are available to download for free.
Burner apps: I've been buying at least one burner a year lately. I've got about 5 legal copies of Nero, that I was forced to pay for when buying the burner. The way I see it, they owe me now. (Din't M$ get sued for forcing Windows on us when buying laptops?
Just to make it fair to everyone, I warez everything. 99% of the stuff I would NEVER buy, and good stuff gets good word of mouth from me.

Computers and hardware bundled with M$ crap software and other apps like antivirus, burning and office apps, etc. It's just wrong. The user should be able to choose the OS he wan't separately, he may also already have for ex a XP license to use on the comp.
