All thanks to me not wearing enough clothes on sunday, I seem to have caught this winter sickness which made me feel sluggish with each passing day until I returned home from college on tuesday and just kept sitting near the heater for the entire duration not being able to move.
Come wednesday and I'm not even able to wake up from my bed and so begins a really horrible experience. Since wednesday I must have eaten atleast a dozen pills , shivered like crazy and covered with 5 blankets only to start sweating after 3 hours - rinse repeat. Damn its really really horrible and I can't even walk properly. To top it all off, at night I have weird hallicinations and my brain can't register anything out of it.
This has really been so damn draining and its only been today that I've gotten enough energy to actually sit on the PC. But I can only type at 1/4 of my normal speed and my hands are all blue and I look like hell. Seriously, learn from my mistake, wear adequate clothing during winters.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

you get sick by catching a bacteria/virus from another person, not the weather.

It was not my diagnosis but the doctors...

It's a common myth that even the doctors believe in. I have read that too, clothes have absolutely nothing to do with you being sick.
But still you can get hypothermia if it's really cold, so yeah wearing jackets and stuff on 0°C is a smart thing

I always thought it was due to prolonged exposure to cold temperatures weakening the body hence your imune system has a harder time to fight the virus, like when you exercise when you are not 100% you run a bigger risk of getting sick.
But don't quote me on that.

this is only true after prolonged exposure to cold (ie once hypothermia has kicked in). once you get to this point you have bigger things to worry about catching a cold anyways.

Sound like Pneumonia
Possible symptoms include:
* shortness of breath
* shivering
* chills
* headache
* delirium (confusion)
* severe bad breath
* muscle pain
* weakness
* chest pain, especially when breathing deeply
* blue lips and nail beds from lack of oxygen in the blood
I had it before and I got the same symptoms as you mention, shiver non stop at the start then after couple of hr felt super hot, then back to shiver. Also had night sweat too.
Doctor thought it was a cold or flu, but told me to go to hospital and have a X-ray to make sure.

There are certain factors which increase rhinovirus transmission rates in cold weather but is has nothing to do with a compromised immune system.

There seems to be a new fad that it's somehow 'cool' to wear few clothes even during the coldest weather, for me it shows Darwinism hard at work

--> you have a high temperature which fucks up your thermal sensing in the brain

--> you have a high temperature and you are not taking care of yourself. What happens, your brain is overheating and you start seeing/hearing things.

Well, you get the picture... You have a flu or something sortalike. Common symptoms of the disease are chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness/fatigue and general discomfort.
Get into your bed, sleep for 3 days, take some fever supressors and you will be fine. And dont do any crazy stuff the first week (like running a marathon or so) to allow your body to recover.
And about the cold-rhinovirus theory
a) cold weather causes your body to burn more energy to keep your temperature @ 37C, so yes there is less energy to keep the immunesystem @ 100%. Same goes for wet weather, wet and cold will drain your energy in no time. Solutions: Eat well, rest enough and stay warm and dry
b) Cold causes people to stay inside, closer to eachother, so people transmit virusses more easily in winter time.
c) in winter virus survive longer because of less UV, lower termperatures.
