Don't really have anything against this, but I prefer how Neon did it last year, with categories, each with nominees first and then a poll with the most nominated.

1. Dark Souls (only with community fixes, straight out the factory it's ugly, barely playable dog shit)
2. Max Payne 3
I don't have a third choice, maybe AC3 if it's any good.
Biggest letdown : Mass Effect 3.

Max Payne 3 is the only game that rose to the top this year for me. Still have Dishonored installed but didn't have time to play sadly. So it might go up there once I do play it, but I fear it will be 2013 by then.

at the moment ima say alan wake and spec ops the line, but i still have to play sleepy dogs, ass creed 3, far cry 3, hitmang, and whateverthehellelse this year still has coming for me!
oh yeah, and still havent played dishonored or max payne 3.

ok , lets see.
X-Com is certianly a top canditate.
Borderlands 2 i was dissapointed, so no.
Diablo 3, well, i am a bit mixed. It took them 5 major patches (1.0.5) to make the game somewhat interesting. I did however, after a long break, finish inferno with my bar, wiz and demonhunter. And i had some fun, so i guess its in my list of games. BUT, i dont want it to win, it doesnt deserve it 
Guild wars 2, aswell, i had some fun, played 1 char to 80, did some pvp, some server vs server pvp and i had my moneys worth of fun. But right now, i am rather "done" with it. So definitely a candidate, sure, but not winning materal.
COD:BO2, not worth the (virtual) ink i used to type this line.
Path of exile is a "to be seen, but positive".
Torchlight 2. A good hack n slash, no doubt, but it failed to capture me, sadly. Good enough for the list, but imho not worth, aswell, to win.
So, my candidates are :
X-Com <- top pick
Diablo 3
Torchlight 2
Guild Wars 2
i choose x-com as my top pick, since it, overall, provided me with the most fun.

GW2
Take into account I don't play that many games. Still have to start with Dishonoured for example. Hmm yes I tried it for a couple of mins. Started a hide and seek game with that girl after I picked her up. Really felt uncomfortable doing that, actually my char did do that. So I decided to hide in the river, surely I can swim in this game, jumped down and died, okay -> quit game.

january works, even dec after most of the major titles have been released. (far cry 3 is the 4th, right? etcetc)
so a bit too soon, would prefer to see this after we've had a chance to try out the rest of this year's titles
