I'm thinking about buying a PSPgo in a few days as a birthday gift to myself but the UK PSN store is a pile of cack. I really want to just sign up for a US account but it seems that in order to do this you need to have a US cred/debit card.
Does anyone know a good way around this? Maybe a place to buy cards from the US on the cheap?

You should be able to create a card with Entropay, or like you say use those PSN cards - but I've read some people don't have a problem just using their normal card even with a fake address. I've not tried it, so your mileage may vary - but it might be worth a shot. Still I wouldn't mind finding a good place to get some PSN cards for the US store either, and it's probably the better solution.

Slightly off topic, but after getting a PSP 3000 for myself most of all the criticisms levelled against the GO have diminished in my eyes. Digital downloads only is the best thing for something like the PSP - in fact I don't think I will ever buy a UMD myself and might even trade in the few I got as gifts to buy the DD variant to replace it. It's still priced ridiculously, but I guess that will change in time and the screen might be smaller but it's supposedly of a better quality and since it's smaller it's more portable.
(I realise a lot of the pirates who use their PSPs to do whatever they want with homebrew will scoff at what I just said, but you know what I mean and where I'm coming from)
...oh and happy birthday...

I have an original first week release PSP still but having played with my mates PSPGo this weekend I can totally see the benefit of the new system. Plus looking at the US PSN store I was really impressed at the PS1 games on offer and the price. I think its certainly worth it, but I must say if I can't get access to the US store easily it wont be worth getting anymore as the difference in games is massive.

Well, it's easy enough to just login to your US account using MediaGo on the PC and browse the store. If you had a PSN card I believe it would just be a case of redeeming the code and downloading the game and then 'activating' it on your PSP. So I don't think there's any difficulty on the face of it (only an inconvenience with having to switch accounts) but I've had my PSP less than a week so probably best to wait until someone with more experience with them decides to pop in

There are definitely some games in there I'd like that the UK store doesn't have mind, and some of them at much cheaper prices ($19.99 vs £31 for 'Prinny; can I really be the hero' for example). I don't understand why the UK and US stores aren't the same, we don't need localisation.

I've used this store a couple of times now to buy US PSN store cards.
http://www.hdmoviesource.com
Its a movie store set up by a couple of ex-pat Brits in the states. On their webpage they sell PSN store cards, If you choose the no shipping option they will just email you the PSN card code to input into the store.
I got my PSN codes within 5-30 mins both times I bought from them. Bear in mind that they are in the US so buisiness hours are 6-8? hours behind the UK time.
