If anything 1.5 is the most recent and the most secure FW, why would you think that people using it are getting banned?

I dunno, people have been getting banned with all kinds of firmwares. just because it's the latest and most secure apprently doesn't mean that it actually is secure.

ppl who have been banned before its not the firmware thats the issue its the fact they don't stealth they're games and verify them on the database properly before playing online, and anyone who plays a title before release date is asking for a ban

to some it up no firmware is really secure, but if u stealth ur games etc u got less chance of being caught,im still using firmware i got done about a year ago on my elite, play on live all the time with copies but i make sure i verify and stealth first, and no ban to this day

Once again, it's unclear how they ban. I know many people who played all the big games early and even online (Fallout3, Fable2, GTA4 etc.) and aren't banned from live. Maybe they know about every single flashed console but only ban a few random ones as a scare tactic, who knows...

What kind of scare tactic would that be? Wouldn't it be far more effective if they banned all flashed consoles if they knew about them?

New things added to the new dash update regarding banned consoles.

As of now when your console is banned your gamesaves and live profile will show up corrupted on a non-banned machine. And you cannot install games to your hard drive anymore on a banned console. It will say: "Installation of this game isn't supported"

So anything on a banned machine stays on the banned machine.

my banned box was perfect until I plugged in a HD with the newest dashboard. Now all it will do is play games from DVD but all profiles/saves are corrupt on a non-banned machine.

so if ya got a banned box dont update to the new dash

just looks like a random issue to me as opposed to a deliberate thing by ms. Sounds like you're just unlucky. Loads of people do exactly what you are doing without issues.

My console was banned 2 days ago, hooked up my HDD on the new console and went straight online playing CoD 4 and CoD 5 and all my saves, challenges, rank were there.

Also tried Operation flashpoint and resumed from where i was on the previous console so thats bullshit

Well I have the exact same thing here myself with my 2 360's. The banned one corrupts the profile and saves which will not work on the unbanned console. And this only happened after I upgraded to the latest dash on the unbanned console and then plugged the HDD into the banned 360.

Maybe both need to be updated to be not corrupted? I'm guessing the banned console cannot be updated?

Can't you do a profile restore on the unbanned console instead of swapping the hdd?

Also, Kommando, do you have any idea what banned you? Seems odd to be banned in mid-October...? Is it permanent or a timed ban like the Halo: ODST people were getting?

Yes you can recover the gamertag fine. Thi is obviously intentional by MS as it's a way of preventing people from transferring their achievements from banned 360's to unbanned consoles.

Also, when you have updated one console and then plug the HDD into another ity uodates that one alo. So they are both on the same dash version.

Microsoft should create a little xmas card that pops up on your xmb that says:

"Yo Ho Ho Merry Christmas from XBOX Live.......... YOU'R BANNED"

Why was your console banned? I thought MS only bans in waves?

Me too. I thought they only made exceptions when something completely obvious was being played early (i.e. French Halo OSDT)

Maybe he's saying that his console was banned a while back, but 2 days ago he connected his HDD up to the new console and the saves worked correctly.

your saves aren't corrupted, they are only not compatible with a console version that has a new update

its like with patched PC games saves from vr1.0 will not work on vr2.5

so just manual update your banned console and then your saver are compatible again on a unbanned console its simple

Let me spell this out for you.

Step 1: HDD attached to unbanned 360. Profile and saves working fine.

Step 2: HDD connected to banned 360. Profile and saves working fine.

Step 3: HDD re-connected into unbanned 360. Profile and saves corrupted.

Step 4: HDD connected back into the banned console. Miraculously the profile and saves still work on the banned 360.

Both xbox's on the same dash version. So there goes that little theory.

The saves work on both 360's. But when the profile has been loaded one the banned 360 it will no longer work on the unbanned machine and the gamertag needs to be recovered.

The first thing I'd try is to re-install the dash updates on both consoles using a memory stick.

Here

It might do nothing but surely worth a shot?

You sure that's ban related? I had 2 360's before that did the exact same thing, but neither were banned. You could swap the hard drive between either box just fine, but once the 2nd box accessed my profile (signed in) then when you put the hard drive back on the 1st box it would say that proflie was corrupted. But you could put it back on the 2nd box and play all day long. It wouldn't corrupt the profile until you actually signed in with it, and it wouldn't corrupt any game saves until you attempted to access them through whatever game they belonged to.

I really don't know what caused it. For over a year I had no problems, then I let a friend borrow that xbox and he dropped it going down his steps. It still played games just fine. It took me a while to figure out it had that problem. I ended up selling it to someone since as long as you didn't switch between 2 consoles you'd never know it had a problem.
