I didn't like the last PoP. As I said months ago, it was a potential masterpiece turned into a casual gamers' paradise.
As for this one, obiouvsly my expectations aren't that high, and the fact that it will be a Ubisoft developed-published game doesn't help much..

You mean:
Prince of Persia (1989)
Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame (1994)
Prince of Persia 3D (1999)
If so, PoP3D was pretty bad, and nowhere near as brilliant as you make it sound.

Unless it was a sarcastic remark Leo (and I'm sure it is, but my sarcasmometer is broken recently), he meant the Sands of Time trilogy, including 2003's Sands of Time, 2004's Warrior Within and 2005's The Two Thrones.

I did finish it, in fact, and found it AWFUL in the controls and combat. It had worse controls than Tomb Raider 1, and for a platformer, controls are very important.

Wouldn't say the last PoP was great, but it was a solid game.
They fucked up a bit with the open world, meaning that the difficulty curve was very awkward, in that there basically wasn't one.
The combat was really quite poor, especially the boss battles, but this was saved by the beautiful graphics and the stellar platforming.
There's obviously a lot of potential in this franchise, and I'm glad they're giving it another go. The Sands gameplay worked really well in the last trilogy, and I'm happy to see it returning here. Will be interesting to see if they keep the art style though, I really hope they do.

Since there is a PoP movie getting released next year, I predict that this will be the first pop game since pop3d that will stink to High Heaven as Ubisoft probably will release it along with the movie regardless of it's in beta state or finished (which I doubt It will be)

The last Prince of Persia was disappointing. It was so repetitive and lacked challenge that I just couldn't play it for very long.
Now Ubisoft will release a new Sands of Time game. It would be awesome news if there were no movie coming next year. It'll probably be as bad as any movie game out there.
BTW, the movie looks very good.

They should just remake The Sands of Time as is with Assassin's Creed 2 graphics and call it a day.

Sands of Time still looks good IMO. It's the fairy atmosphere that makes it look good after all these years. Sure, some models are blocky, but..... I don't know, maybe it's just the nostalgia factor.

I'm on the other side of the fence. I liked Sands of Time, and found Warrior Within boring and uninspired, so much actually, that i kinda lost interest in the franichise. And then came PoP 2008 and i thought "hell, let's give it a try, just to see how they did those cell shaded graphics"...
About 2 days later i sat there, wondering what happened, after just finishing the game. WTF? Wasn't i going to just see the graphics? It was brillant, simply brillant, for me. Great story, masterfull atmosphere and very good gameplay, which i didn't found repetitive at all, no more then any other PoP at least. As far as difficulty goes, i don't see much of a difference between loading through a "load" option and loading through Elika, except perhaps the fact that Elika was faster and didn't break the immersion for a second.
Whole game seemed like an animated legend and it was my personal 2008 GOTY. Loved every second and almost picked up a torch when Ubisoft announced that there'll be no DLC for the PC (not that it was really good, but still). This was THE Prince of Persia for me. Sadly, no sequel for now, instead we get a game to come with a movie.

Yup, it's called "art direction." Graphics inevitably get dated on a technical level, but with good art direction, a game can be beautiful forever.

The only good thing about the 2008 PoP for me was the dialog between Elika (or however she was called) and the prince. There were genuinely funny moments.

What's good about the story is how it is told, and wheter it's consistent or not. And yes, i believe it to be better then sands of time trilogy, which was all based around playing with time, and grew pretty boring for me, at one moment (namely Warrior Within). Legacy of Kain series did that better anyway.
And it's not a matter of age, but taste, and we clearly differ in this regard.
I've played most games i consider "epic", and no i'm not 9. I would rather say that a person who resorts to stupid remarks about another's age or taste to prove a point over the i-net, is counting his age in single digits.
Oh, and save Your time if You want to flame, i won't respond to further idiotic remarks.
