I noticed much like other years that all my favourite tv shows go into hiatus for the month of December anyone know the facts behind the reasoning?

If anything you'd think that the shows would pull out all the stops for dramatic story lines with no punches pulled content as so many viewers are bound to the idiot box but instead; like the tortoise they all seem to go into hibernation......

You kidding right? Laughing Let's see, there is that thing called Christmas, ever heard of that? Laughing And the rest of the holidays in that month. Some people prefer to go out on holidays, or go to vacations, or spend time with the family, etc. All these activities make people unavailable to watch TV. Don't take yourself as an example, TV networks get their money from people who actually watch shows live, not download them late at night and watch when they please. Laughing

I would have thought the fact that I stated the month December that would have been obvious and also when I wrote: 'If anything you'd think that the shows would pull out all the stops for dramatic story lines with no punches pulled content as so many viewers are bound to the idiot box' isn't it obvious they are bound to the tv because its a holiday?

I wanted to find out the actual reasoning the tv networks used for cancelling my favourite shows during a period where pretty much everyone is sat around the tv.

Jeeze from now on I will lay out my questions as to a 5 year old...........

I am bound to a Monitor on which I watch TV. I hate when there is nothing new during that month. Who really cares about Christmas anyway?

Those that don't make enough money during that month? Laughing

It's the same for the summer. Why don't you rage against them not showing almost anything worthwhile in the summer?

Sure there are specials, and I watch here and there, but certainly wouldn't be able to find time and sit during what is considered for networks peak hours (8PM -> 11+PM). I can't find time to sit in these hours in most of the weekdays during the year, let alone during holidays.

BTW, Israeli TV networks are awful, and I have stopped my cable for a few months now (almost a year). I was speaking generally. Smile

That's more like it, lets see some rage, write to your mp's and senators and demand that the tv networks do DOUBLE shows in December as a way of thanking pirates for leeching their shows during the year.
As someone with a fat line I demand that tv networks fill it with all sorts of great content during the month of December aka 'Christmas'.

Exactly my point, I mean did we lose a war?

TV networks get off your fat rich asses and make tb loads more great content [and not that low brow bs I want something like Lost but better with a mix of Threshold, The Thick Of It political savvy and a plot ala Battlestar Galactica) and no more reality tv it kills brain cells.

end transmission.

Not my fault they can't keep up with the way peeps implement technology, if they for one moment earnt their fat cat salaries they would have found a solution to the loss of advertising revenue.
Reality teevee will be the death of us and our culture.

Yup, i am saying that they need to get off their asses and give us poor victimized hard-leeching viewers Xmas content.

ps: One bit of good news: Precious screener is out.

I like having an arrogant view most people waste lots of time watching commercials.
But then again if TV was some kind of free service I don't think it would be worth watching anyway, lol

Hehehe, well if I have free time during the period, I use it to watch either some stuff that I haven't seen (like a new series I didn't try during the year) or a marathon for some old time favorite like The Wire or Lord of the Rings (that one is like an entire season or two Laughing ).

Well British tv is free with no commercial breaks, they produced some of the best quality tv ever (it is subsidized by the tax payer but the amount is insignificant compared to pay per view.
The BBC nature documentaries, comedies and drama are awesome.

hmmmm, I like your idea about The Wire iNatan, its available on BBC IPlayer atm.

Paradox is a new British thriller also available on Iplayer atm:

In Norway we actually have to pay a "license" to own a TV, even tho we don't give a shit about the national broadcasting channels. There are facebook groups that tries to remove it, so crossing fingers that its gone by the time ill get my own place. You don't have to pay for all your TVs (if you got more than one) that would have been fucking communistic!
