|
 |
My network is setup exactly as the above image, both computers connect to the internet.
Although I've been unable to configure them to transfer files between each other, I cannot even see each other computer in the network.
Windows 7 is the main OS in both computers.
Any ideas?

cba to draw a pic so:
router/modem = dev1
router = dev2
dev1 should have DHCP and all the other configs (i quess it has) so don't touch this one.
cable to dev2 should be in LAN port.
Dev2 configure IP/subnet for this device manually from the range of DHCP (ip/sub/gw).
The wireless part shouldn't be touched (if it was working).
Next turn off the DHCP on dev2.
Cable also to LAN port from dev1 (not wan), but not before DHCP is turned off.
What we did here, is basically turned the second router to a switch/AP.

Router/Modem: 4 Ethernet Ports
Router: 4 Ethernet Ports + Wireless
The reason why I need the second router is because I need the wireless connection (which my router/modem doesn't has) to link PC2 which is downstairs.
