"Beta"? No screenshots, no info, no nothing...

Oh, you probably mean the beta that will be out in... like... 2014?! Laughing

@blackeyedboy Probably late 2011/early 2012, unless they take people for early on beta testing, but not many do that these days (they use internal teams).

I was being a bit sarcastic. In my book, it's quite weird to talk of betas when one doesn't even has the minimum required information about a game.

Heck, Guild Wars 2 is so advanced in terms of media and info... but they still consider themselves far from beta stage.

Well, since I've not played any of the older games it's not really that strange if I do. I just read Bethesda on the site and closed the tab before reading that it's not Bethesda who is developing.

They still are, alot of these old games are in ways superior to their newer counterparts.
I still play JA2 from time to time just because it's so damn entertaining and fun. ^_^

It's inevitable that any MMO based on a franchise with some depth will become watered and dumbed down to cater for the max amount of revenues from subscribers, in essence raping the story and atmosphere of the source games.

"We're going to give subscribers a special chance to apply to the open beta"
fantastic way to start off. They apparently don't even know what "open" means.

I can't imagine this being any good. Part of the appeal of Fallout is the often empty wastelands. You can't achieve that with 10000 12 year olds running around.

Last time I played it was under win7 64-bit. But if you really want to use XP, just run it in XP mode under Win7. Or run it in some other VM like virtualbox. Should be ok.

i take it this will be an isometric style similar to fo1 and 2, and definately not like fo3, right?

i just dont see how an mmo in a FPS style flavour, relying on reflexes and twitch aiming, could work... i mean the second you have any noticable type of lag, the combat goes right out the window... that being said, a mmo in the style of fo3 in terms of exploration, would be pretty amazing.

but this is all for nothing for me. i dont play p2p mmos, and generally dont spend much time in f2p ones.

There are other MMO games that rely on reflexes and twitch gaming much more than fallout does. Fallout isn't a typical FPS (First Person SHOOTER). Yes, it's a first person perspective (or third, if you choose). But even though you aim your weapons yourself, it's still based on your character skill whether you hit and do damage. And, that type of game works just fine as an MMO.

But, like you said....all for nothing as I don't play MMO games anymore. Haven't since the days of Asheron's Call 1 and Anarchy Online.
