Now, before I actually speak my mind, I'd like to assess a few things first.
When discussing the state of gaming (and the derpification of games) we often arrive at the conclusion, that game journalists act basically as an extension of big publishers' marketing divisions. They hype every major release up, and don't care to do any actual reviewing. Most lack knowledge of the great games of the past 20 years, and don't at all pay attention to the needs of loyal PC gamers. This is just to name a few of the issues. Sites like IGN are basically nothing more than a marketing platform for publishers. Your reviews bought and payed for could easily be their motto. In our many discussions here, we came to the conclusion, that these journos are very much at the core of the problem.
So, why the thread? Well, there must be very many good review sites, that take our point of view in to consideration when analyzing games, we just don't know about them all, because they don't have such large budgets. BUT, that's where we come in. I'd like you all to list the sites you visit, when you want to gain information about a game, that is objective, critical and is taken from the perspective of a gamer, who knows his PC games of the past well. So, which sites are your trusted sources? List them here, let's all generate them some traffic!

I don't think that all professional reviewers are bought and paid for. I think the editors and reviewers that are hired these days are just suited for the level of the target audience of the games themselves. If you make derp game for a derp idiot, might as well derp review it as it would be most accurate from derp standpoint. If you have a website with critical reviews, it must be either in the form of over-the-top satirical content, or nobody will read/watch it. If you have a website giving low scores to blockbusters such as Halos, Call of Duties and Gears of Wars, then that means a whole lot of derps won't visit ("this is a review site with only PC elitists with sense of entitlement"). A lot less derps means substantially lower ad income, which is a whole circle, but the reviewers are not necessarily paid directly. So review sites just adjust themselves accordingly to market.

For Mainstream games (Lot's of shooters) I use the following:
1. http://firingsquad.com/
2. http://Bit-tech.net
3. http://PcGamer.com Some of Pc Gamer's reviews suffers a bit from Bribe-litis (Just made that up)
For Rpg's I use:
1. http://GameBanshee.com
For Adventure Games I use:
1. http://adventuregamers.com
2. http://Gameboomers.com
3. http://Justadventure.com
I find these sites to be well written by Neutral authors that just like Gaming (Especially Pc Gaming), with PC Gamer being somewhat infected from time to time.
The Downside is that you won't see reviews coming as frequent on these sites, but maybe it's because the reviewer's actually bother to play the games for more than 2 hours.

I used to read reviews until some years ago, but now I prefer downloading games and judging them by myself; and the Hump is a good place to know whether a game is joining the derp side or not (~95% yes vs. 5% no), which is enough for me

I just use Metacritic to get a large number of reviews. Usually you should wait a week or so after release to avoid score inflation by the sites that received a review copy early. Smaller and bigger sites count just as much and I usually find the scores there to be fair with very few exceptions.

in 95% of the cases merely looking at the box art, trailers and game info Im able to make my mind up if the game is good or not. You'd be suprised how many typical traits shit or casualfest titels share.

Imho, the best review is your own. While someone might like a game, you may hate it and vice versa.... its just that simple. Oh yeah, one thing I have noticed with "Worlds first exclusive never before bla bla reviews" is that they are always 90% plus. No prizes for guessing why
1 and 2 are still amazing.

IMO, reading reviews is a waste of time. In the best case, I just skim through a review and/or read its final pros-and-cons points alongside the main score. These days, I simply download the game and make an assessment for myself.

I tend to watch videos for basic gameplay; problem is that a lot of videos are also done by complete retards, which showed with Shift 2 for example.
ISO demos are still my #1 source for reviews
