So,
my parents are gone for three weeks and every once in a while I turn into some kind of slob kitchen wise.
Not that it's totally crusted and disgusting. I keep the kitchen clean, the dishes washed etc.
What I do not do is to daily check the food.
Altough I should, at least every couple of days, especially since it got so warm three days ago.
So I open the fridge (yeah I know, temp doesn't have anything to do with _that_) and see two cucumbers who thought it would be a could idea to grow sentient (or they were on their way...)
I can stand a lot of shit but mouldy food always gets me nauseaous (only in the english language you get a word that has 4 vocals directly after each other O.o).
So while fighting with the nausea I throw them away only to realize that every bread I had lying around was mouldy as well. But that seems to have been intelligent mould because it was mouldy on the side of the bread that didn't face me.
After throwing all that shit away and bringing the trash out I washed my hands, twice, and now I realize once again that I fucking hate rotten food!
(And yes, I know that I only have to blame myself for that)

Haha, had the same thing going like 30 min ago
I wanted to make an espresso, but with this:
(mine's bigger). Anyways, I go and open it (it was difficult to open) and there was still leftover coffee, from who knows when, inside, but it had mould all over it. It was icky! I soaked the thing in warm water with detergent, soda and vinegar, and then boiled water through just to be on the safe side

Why throwing it away ? Was the mold that big ? If the mold is less than half of bread, I usually just cut it away and eat the bread.

Not to repeat myself, but those things are so much work and you only get maybe a couple cups of coffee outta it.
It only holds half the amount you would expect by looking at it. The people who use those things LOVE good strong coffee and enjoy the taste if their effort.
my computer is fucking up again.......... only have a sec

I am back. These shut down problems are a real issue.
I think you meant 'manly' not 'mainly' |
I expressed myself wrong, I was kinda in a hurry. I meant: I use the espresso thingy mainly because of the taste... manly is adjective, so if I used it as such it would be: because of the manly taste (and I doubt that espresso taste is manly , oh and sorry for the grammar nazi thing )

yep, me too. although not 'cause i'm poor, as reklis suggested. when i'm high i can't be bothered getting out of the house at midnight to get bread, so i eat what's available |
Hehehe In my case during the day it is mostly of my laziness, and during the night is cause due to financial crisis the closest 24h supermarket in the walking distance has closed, and the next one is 20 minutes walk thru the forest and than a little bit near the cemetery - you know, the ghosts, vampires, necrophiles...

@Reklis: Now that you mentioned zombies, it got me thinking about all crazy movie flicks with them and if one day real zombies emerge a lot of folks would get eaten cause they would be laughing their asses off thinking it is some kind of flashmob or something else
@lhzr: Yeah, storing bread in the fridge is great. Been doing it while still had a soviet build fridge, the one what looks like they could withstand a nuclear attack But after 25 year of service motor died and that forced to buy a new fridge. Unfortunately no-frost fridges mess with the bread pretty heavily even if you wrap it in a cellophane. The other solution for no-frost fridges is to put bread in "vacum" containers, but pumping air out deforms bread and makes it look funky
