|
 |
hi people
i am in total confusion due to a game in iether buying and XBOX 360 with an hdd of 60GB or a PS3 with 80GB hdd.
what would you recommend being the best?
what i heard from a tech who is a friend of mine he advised me to get the XBOX 360 as the PS3 are malfunctioning from the laser quite a lot.
on the other hand i like the Project Natal on XBOX 360. But i dont want to miss out on GOD OF WAR 3 which looks like a PS3 exclusive only.
i dont want to buy both consoles.
what would you suggest?
cheers
Robby

I got a PS3 myself, I've tried the XBOX - and I can for the life of me not understand why people prefer the XBOX360 (apart from possibly the ease of pirating games). And while it's true that there have been some issues with the BluRay-laser these issues are but a fraction of the issues with XBOX360's ... there are some members of this very forum that has had to replace their units 3 or 4 times. I've had my PS3 for years now, and never had a problem.
I play very specific games for the PS3, like UFC, Little Big Planet, and the new "Ico", other than that I use it as a multimedia-device (eg. BluRay-player) and I daresay it's second to none on that aspect. So my recommendation (trying to be unbiased here):
Get the XBOX360 if you:
a) Like to have A LOT of games (pirated).
b) Are prepared to wait on RMA:s.
c) Don't really care much for 1080p and BluRay.
Get the PS3 if you:
a) Like to have console-specific games (such as Ico 3 or Little Big Planet).
b) Prefer 100% free online-gameplay.
c) Like to use the console more than as a gaming-box, and more as a bigtime multimedia device.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Another thing, get a PS3 if you don't want the hassle of your 360 breaking once a year.

I have both xbox and ps3. And both have weakness and positives. And the only thing i would advice you is to look at the exclusives for each one. And see which games do you like more.

Sony lost me when they cut/blocked the backwards compability of ps1 and ps2 games in new models/old with rehashes or updates (ps1 and ps2 original media CD/DVD doesn't work) and making each game from ps1 and ps2 buyable in Digital Distribution... fuck them why should i buy a game that i own allready
and they failure rate is the same as xbox360 but sony has the "free get-out card" for bad press named "New untested technology that reads a Bd disk even if its scratched like hell and you can install linux or Winxp"...xbrix360 on the other hand has a shitty dvd reader that scratches disks (just like PS3 .... lulz no bd tray) and sensitive to dvd jitter drives that make original dvds scratch free/error free register as bad , makes your heads turn (they knew that...hdd option anyone)
i look at them as mini-pcs : xbox360 has better graphics in each game and they run in full 60fps in 1080p oh and weeee freee pirated games , ps3 cheap BD movie player that can play games like .... let me think a yes 3DO , hmmm they situation looks similar don't you think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3DO_Interactive_Multiplayer

the only real comment here you should be considering is bogo's. I've personally got a gaming PC and a 360. I got the 360 for it's exclusives and it's cheaper than the PS3.
Mine is a 2006 model and hasn't fucked up yet, most of those RROD's seem to be from people that leave their shit on for 18 hours a day lol (jk)
But like bogo said, look at which has the exclusives you want. Otherwise they both normall have all the multiplatform games.
Keep in mind too the 360 is easier to develop for...by a bunch, so 360 tends to get more games and better optimized games.

360 for sure, heaps of games and dual platform titles are superior. Jasper boards are pretty reliable

xbox for sure.
can't see a pro for ps3, only a -very- few exclusives, bad performance , high price etc...
Xbox are cheap (+ flashable etc), lots of ppl on live, lots of games...
I'm not an MS fanboy, i really don't give a fuck about console war, if ps3 was a good alternative i would have already bought it , but right now i just don't see the point.

I had both, sold off the PS3 as it never got touched. For me, and it is a personal thing, there was so few decent games on the PS3 that I couldn't already get on the 360. I'd normally get the 360 version as well due to playing online as XBL shits on PSN from a great height.
The only swaying fact originally was the God of War series which I'll miss. MGS4 was ok, LBP wasn't for me, but Drakes Fortune was decent.
Don't fall in the trap of buying the PS3 for a BR player. You'd find it cheaper (in most countries) to buy the 360 and then get a better BR player (well, thats the case in the UK anyhow).
Buy new 360's now shouldn't suffer any hardware glitches asfaik. I've got the red jasper and its running smoothly.
Edit: And, no, I'm not an MS fanboy. I bought both open mindedly.

It's not just the exclusives, though. For example, if one is not interested by either the 360 and PS3 exclusives, he still would have a better experience on the Xbox 360 because most multi-platform games are primarily developed for the Xbox 360 (countless comparison articles sustain my claim).

There will never be God of War on xbox, unless Microsoft buys out Sony.

Agreed God Of War will never come to Xbox, GOW is there stallion, it's probably the main reason people are buying the PS3, apart from the BD-player

Yep, GOW never coming. Same applies to Gran Turismo, its their number one driving game.
BD player isn't enough of a reason now that prices on Standalone BD players has dropped.
