seriously, i know there's loads of Canadians here, what gives with your fucking "currency"?

Every single CA client I have complains when I give my rates and send invoices. You guys may aswel trade in fucking eggs, your dollar isnt worth shit.

£10 is $18CAD. Seriously wtf? thats almost $3 more than the USD XC rate.

Why the hell do you have your own currency anyway I dont understand? England and Scotland are just like US/Canada yet we use the same currency, why do the yanks have to be assholes and not share their currency?

I feel such a jackass asking for something thats almost double in XC on an invoice, 99% of the clients go elsewhere after one project because they cant afford it.

Fuck you maple government, fuck you!

£10 doesnt get you fucking shit, its £3 for a pint most places, a pub meal averages at about £9, lol.

why should we? we have probably the strongest currency in the world, why would we want to change to something thats worth less? ultimately the country would lose money exchanging it.

I remember back in the days when 1 GBP was about 7 DM (I miss my old German currency, it was awesome... whatever) - which would basically be about 3-4 EUR
and today 1 GBP = 1,20 EUR or something like that.
Let's see where your precious currency will drop to.
Btw (this goes to Britans, and North Americans) screw your imperial system! Nobody has such large feet anyway! O.o

im not a high horse currency whore, I know it sucks that we all have our own currencies in its ways.

Wouldnt it be great if there was a worldwide single currency.

Because the US and Canada isn't called The United Americas or whatever....hence the reason Scotland and England use the same currency.

Canada and the US are very similar but also very different. We don't want to be American. Not there is anything wrong with being American, but we are Canadian, simple as that.

There was talk of a NA currency a few years ago, but both Canada and the US said fuck it.

The way our economies are structured, it suits us fine. We are the biggest trading partners on earth...u do know that right? Without Canada, the US couldn't function and vice versa.

just thought I'd add something to that and I believe most of us might agree on that, right? Laughing
Anyway, you're right, one currency would make a whole lot of stuff easier but than again how would you wanna do that? Too many different countries with different politics etc.
But it's a nice dream Smile

A world currency? Ok....Rolling Eyes

So that means some dirt poor african country has the same benefits of say England/Western Europe and NA? I have nothing against that personally, but I do think the various gov's and corporations would...

Technically, if we all had the same currency the poverty stricken countries of today would benefit quite well since their currencies will no longer be worth beans Wink

I see where you are coming from Syco. I admire the CA way of keeping their own self and not wanting to be part of the US and what not. I just get angry by the XC lol Wink

Actually a pretty funny picture Very Happy
You don't know cyberpunk?
Well, Deus Ex was pretty much cyberpunk.
Blade Runner is like the grandfather of cyberpunk movies.
Akira, Ghost in the Shell.
Matrix (sort of...)
The original Shadowrun (not the crap that M$ pulled off with their FPS pos)

Maybe on the other side you do know what cyberpunk is and I just made a complete ass of myself now Very Happy

I do know what it is I just think its a dumb name lol

@gem

Pisses us off too. Its expensive as fuck to go to England...but still thousands of Canadians go a year. Some send their kids to school there.
U think being part of the Commonwealth and not joining up with the US during the revolutionary war we'd get a better deal....

Considering we still have a fucking Governor General who technically can veto the PM any time she wants....I think its fucked up

Laughing it is fucked up.

Flights are expensive? or do you mean the whole package. 'cause I dont think hotels over here are too bad. Me and my GF spent a night in a 4* hotel in York and it only cost us £30 a night for 2. Very cheap ,and a great hotel.

Again I took a trip to whitby for 2 nights last month, which again only cost us £30 each (although the hotel was a lot nicer still)

food etc over here is relatively cheap too.

overall. Compared to going other places (such as anywhere in the US) or even Europe and South America.

U have to factor in spending money - shopping, eating, partying etc...not just your flight, hotel and vehicle rental (if applicable)

Lol @ what some people consider to be a 'strong' currency and what they think the benefits/disadvantages of a strong currency are! Very Happy Actually the canadian dollar has gained a lot of ground against the US$ and other currencies in recent years. Given the expected weakness of the US$ we might even be headed for parity but whether that is a good thing depends on who you ask. Japan hasn't had much to cheer about despite having one of the strongest currencies in the world.

in Q1 of this year the USD was average of about 1.4 , whereas now its 1.6. which is balls.

the canadian dollar as far as i know was 1.7 at the start of the year, and now its almost 1.9.. so your argument is invalid dude.

No its not man...the Canadian dollar has gone up a lot recently when you rank it against the US. Its always covered on the news.
At one point, we were trading at 75c on the dollar....

Look at those rates again and this time look at the percentage and relative change. The US$ has fallen from 1.44 to 1.69 to 1 pound. Whereas the C$ has gone from 1.76 to 1.80 in the same period. It's still 'weakened' against the pound but much less than the US$. Actually both the dollars are approaching each other.

yeah, I just looked at that. I would edit the post but there's no point. An honest mistake.

But really, I didnt think about the USD/CAD exchange changing that much, since its not apparent to me on a daily general. Meh.

for the same reason we didn't ask them to share the titanic. next you'll be asking why we don't share the peso with mexico Wink
