I have a problem with the game, when i start the game
the monitor goes out(blank screen) and i still hear the game music like the frequance is out of range.
I tried to set the screen to 60Hz and it steel goes out in the game.
I downloaded the latest drivers 66.93 or 67.02 (NVIDIA)
it didnt help.
All i managed to do is to see some logos of the game at start...
I think the game is set to an high frequance more then my monitor refresh rate... so insted of display the game the monitor goes off.
OK' i'll explain how i did it in case someone else have the same problem:
like i said the game refrase rate is faster then you monitor so You will need to manually set the refresh rate for the game on your system.
1) Click on the Start button > Run.
2) In the box type: dxdiag
3) Click the OK button.
4) DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open
5) Click on the "More Help" tab
6) Click on the Override button
7) Select "Override Value" and enter a value in the box that your monitor can support, then click ok
Exit the dxdiag via the exit button at the bottom or the x in the upper right hand corner
At this point the game will be launching with the refresh rate you specified. This change will affect all direct3d games on your system, so you may wish to revert the override option back to "default" in between game sessions.
Honestly speaking, you need some SERIOUSLY better hardware.
The Source engine was optimized to work with ATI cards, meaning that some nVidia optimizations got crippled in the process. Look at it this way:
Speeds on three similarly-powered cards would be something like:
ATI: 120%
OTHER: 100%
NVIDIA: 85%
I know this is what happened with ATI Cards and Doom 3, so I'm almost certain this goes for HL2.
Secondly, the GF3 just plain sucks. If I get shitty fps with a 128m GF 5200 card (which is 3 generations ahead of GF3), I can imagine how badly Source would chug with your card.
My suggestions:
1. get a new card
or
2. Set your resolution to 640x480 or 800x600 and turn all the details down. That should give you a steady 25fps
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
