So. I live in Germany and I thought about ordering some stuff from play-asia.com
Everything fine and dandy.
But now comes the hard part.
Trying to figure out how much import sales tax I'd have to pay.
It's just so nice of the German bureaucracy, that we have a tax rate for almost every fucking item you could ever imagine of importing but then again things like video games don't have their own tax rate so it's pretty much a guessing game what tax rate is going to apply to that.
Or take console acccesories, same deal.
It might be possible that I'd have to pay nothing at all.
Or, if I have some very bad luck, it might even be possible that I'd have to pay up to almost 14% of whatever I'm buying...
And even calling the customs office wouldn't help because there is no guarantee that if they tell me it's gonna be a tax rate of say 4% the customs official processing my package might think otherwise and I'd end up paying 10 or 12%
God this is so freaking annoying...

14% pff that's nothing... What are you ordering, anyway? At least in here if the import tax would be less than 10e, it isn't carried at all. So unless a single item costs a lot or the p&p costs are prohibitive, just split your one order into multiples.

It's more a general bitching about the fact that you never really know how much you're gonna have to pay, if you have to pay anthing at all.
German customs are confusing and obscure.
mind you, stuff like computers & notebooks have tax rate of 0% O.o
P&p costs me at least 9 bucks and splitting the orders up might even cost me more but again there is no way for me to find out reliably - and that's the whole point ^^

Are you looking those up with TARIC?
9504100000 - Video games of a kind used with a television receiver is 0% tax; of course since it's outside EU you'll still need to pay the VAT if the total value's high enough.
