Just putting back together a friends old k8V deluxe board which is all running fine, the os been fine, but the mooks at his house while doing some "cleaning for space" decided to remove the whole winsxs folder"...

Now of course the Os boots etc and everything in there is fubard relating to how things look placed etc.. So I thought ok fuck this Ill just reinstall the OS for them.. So I put the K8V deluxe sata drivers on a floppy ready for F6 on boot as I remember doing it the first time around.

So I set sata boot rom to enabled in bios (make sure its on rather) and turn off promise raid stuff. (apparently thats how its done), ive tried various enabled disabled ideas with those as well to no avail.

Anyhow, dvd boots, and I hit f6 and install the sata 378 drivers before OS finshes loading files. It loads and then Either blue screens on windows starting up part where you choose the drive to install on etc, or it doesnt blue screen and it lets you press f8 to accept the eula type shit then u see the screen for the drives and it says "no drives detected" lol

Now the system had 2 sata connected drives so I left just one drive plugged into SATA1 and i booted and got blue screen on the final part before showing drives, i swapped the drive to the other one still plugged into SATA1 on the board and booted, got to end said "there is no drives on your system press f3 to quit" lol

HIghly annoying, I would of thought the sp3 xp disc i got is slipstreamed and wouldnt need third party installed sata drivers anyhow but all that does is blue screen everytime..

Any thoughts please? you know if you have seen this annoying bahaviour before..

Now a final note, the drives access fine in the old OS boot even though its missing lots of drivers from the winsxs stuff, but the drives work lol, so I just cant fathom wtf is wrong or what I need to do now to get a OS installed on there.. Baffling it really is.

yeah its baffling, the drivers are dated 2003 and im sure its the same ones, nothings been updated since that time as its an old board now.. Id of tried the Via ones but of course they come in at 23mb and dont fit on a floppy lol..
