So, I got a friend who just bought a new gfx card and psu. He had a g33 Intel chipset (onboard), and want's to put in the new gfx card. He needs the newer psu for the gfx card. He puts them both in, and hooks everything up. Then the problem - the gfx card doesn't give out a signal to the monitor. He's got a VGA cable from his gfx card to his monitor, but his monitor just says no signal. It works fine if he goes back to the old psu, and takes out the gfx card.

Any ideas?

I think he has to set in the BIOS that he wants the graphics card to be the primary device. At least that's what I had to do on my mom's PC when I moved from on-board to PCIe. Smile

He tried changing "Primary Adapter" or something like that. He changed it to PCIe x16, which is the slot he had the gfx card in. It still didn't work, seemed like it still used the onboard card, even though he also disabled that in device manager.

Also, are you sure you have connected the graphics card with the PSU properly? Some, higher end cards require cables to be connected from the PSU to the card directly. Smile What card is it?

He barely has anything in his BIOS. The only On Board things it has is LAN and LAN Boot.

The card is pretty low-end, an ATI HD 4350.

What is the motherboard and what is the BIOS manufacturer? Sometimes advanced features are hidden by default from the BIOS setup, and you need to input a special command (like CTRL+F1) to display them.

Motherboard is Asus IPIBL-LB.

Bios is by American Megatrend.

Edit: Oh well, we can't get it to work. He's gonna take it back to BestBuy ( I know..) tomorrow and see if they can fix it.
