I don't know what I did wrong when I was installing my OS, but this is the 2nd time when I have this problem. When I try to right-click any shortcut on my desktop, c:, d: drive, or anywhere else, explore.exe just crashes and restarts:"Windows Explorer has stopped working...." What's wrong? I have Vista Ultimate with SP2, NoD32 AV, SpybotS&D, so I don't think that the viruses or spyware can be responsible for this. Rolling Eyes

Maybe your right-click context menu registry keys are screwed up, try to figure out which apps have added their own right-click options.

Try to get TuneUp utilities and see if something's wrong with reg as VGA said...

yeah its a virus , well there are two that do that one is called Virtualmonde and the other is a fake explorer.exe ... just replace the explorer by exiting the gui with alt-delete-ctrl and exit exlorer.exe then in cmd copy the original explorer from your disk

I don't think so, spidey. Explorer.exe is sometimes related to Virtumonde, but he has NOD32 installed, no way it didn't get detected.
