so this guy calls me after lunch and says i built a computer man and it won't do anything. after some digging i come to the conclusion that it's not posting and offer him some suggestions. he says he's already tried them so i told him if he wanted he could drop it off with me and i'd let him know what was wrong, at no charge cause i felt sorry for him (nothing like a build gone bad to ruin your day)
after opening the case i see all the important parts, nice brand new EVGA motherboard and an E8500 wolfdale that he had in his pocket when he came in. yea first sign something wasn't right. soon enough i notice that there is no heatsink. i think to myself... naaaaaaah couldn't be, he just forgot it. after a phone call i found out he forgot it - completely. he said he thought the heatsinks on the motherboard were supposed to cool it.
lol, youd be surprised how simply things can be forgotten though. I have built many computers and sometimes I still forget smallest important things. I once spent more than a week trying to fix a problem, the build would not work. I bought new parts, rebuilt it 4 times.. then I went to see the plug, and I had not connected the power supply to the mobo it just happens sometimes.
