|
 |
Hey guys, I have been told by my doctor that I should be getting a good comfortable comp chair for working. I have been complaining with back aches lately and he suggested this amongst other things that I should try. I do only have a basic comp chair right now, just a wooden chair wtih a soft padding on. Are there any well known brands that specialize in comfort chairs for computing?
I had a look in IKEA but they where very expensive.. something like £200 ++ for a chair.. but maybe this is what I have to buy for top quality?
I dont know. Anyone show me something they own..

Heard great things about the aeron (herman miller) chairs mentioned by Submiqent. You should also look for the "Ergohuman" chairs if you want something less expensive but still very good. Im thinking about buying one of those.

LoL all that comfy chair bullshit makes me laugh, the key to this is just a chair that you feel is comfortable to you. And primarily to make sure you at least take 10 min breaks now and then to stretch your legs litteraly and back muscles..
I suffer from a terrible Sciatica nerver trapping and believe me no chair no matter how expensive makes it any better, the key is movement and not sitting in "any chair" for long long periods.

Heh wow, almost exactly the same that I have... wasn't from IKEA tho. I really like the web/net backrest, sometimes it's hot as hell in the summer here and it'd be agony sitting in full leather chair.

This Aeron chair looks great... It has 12 year guarantee, and I'm reading reviews of it: Ferrari of the chairs Here it costs little less than 1000€ I need to finish uni and get a good paying job asap

I use this chair from a company called Kinnarps.
I got it on the cheapside cause my mom knows the owner of the local shop, I can't remember the exact price but it was around 300$.
If you, like me, sit by your computer a lot I'd say it's a no brainer to get a proper chair. Instead of a new gfx-card or whatever, spend the cash on a chair.

the chair that cnz posted is the only good one in the thread. the rest are just weird and have nothing to do with comfort.

Chairs are great but I suggest is some sit-ups and pushup's. Swimming is awsome. If you back hruts that is the only way to do it.. You have to build up the muscles in your back. You can have the best back chair (I love IKEA) but most back pains have to do with strength and ergonomics.

im lolling at the 300 price for a chair that seems fine to anyone lol bwahah, Like i said and so did pistolshrimp. Anychair can be 30000000 in cash value wouldnt make slightest difference, its about how long you sit in one posture.
Excersice well inbetween long work sessions sitting down and you can use a set of wall step ladders to sit on..
seriously 300 for a chair come on more money than sense ffs lol

300 is nothing if you take into account the hours you're gonna spend in the chair and sit comfortably. But each to his own.....
