For some reason whenever I install graphics drivers my computer takes ages to load (just sits on a black screen after the OS loads before going to login screen) and Windows Explorer crashes every 5 seconds, also when it first started happening my third hard drive had an I/O Error, then after I reformatted disappeared, replaced the Sata cable and installed graphics drivers it reappears but still I/O error, I assumed, it had no label unlike the rest and Explorer kept crashing so couldn't find out so I restored my comp back to the previous backup and now its gone again, I have installed latest, and 1 previous drivers and my comp keeps having these problems, never had them before, but while using Folding@home all of a sudden my graphics drivers had a problem and "crashed" (something along those lines) so I updated them so it wouldn't happen again, then all this happened, please help D:.

Maybe it's completely unrelated to drivers and it's a general hard disk failure ? Do a full disk sector scan.

Do you mean of my system drive? I did have a feeling that it might be hardware related cause explorer crashed even in safe mode, but it only started after updating my gfx drivers, but since it does it even with a previous version.

I had a raptor die on me a while back, I knew it was a HD problem you could hear the drive very quietly like it was always searching for something but I wasnt overly sure, and Internet explorer used to act up, explorer itself use to be delayed sometimes etc and do the oddest things..
I thought it was corrupt files from a bad update etc for ages until I did a full Manufacturers HD tool scan and found it was fucked.. The corrupt files were probably true but it wasnt the fact I never repaired anything or resintalled fresh, it was the fact the drive kept fucking them up after the fact.. So sounding like a possible HD death...

Hmm, Ok, bummer, I have had this hdd for a while, 2 yrs I think, thanks for the help, this has been a pain in the ass, accidently wiped all settings, backed them up but I must of accidentally "moved" instead of "copy", would this have anything to do with having a cheap PSU?

"accidently wiped all settings, backed them up but I must of accidentally "moved" instead of "copy", would this have anything to do with having a cheap PSU?"
Your asking like two questions combined, its hard to decipher what settings your talking about, and how it could relate to your psu..
Ur sig shows u have a cooler master psu at 550w i dont think that would be your problem.. not sure what you mean by "need to replace this soon" though, have you replaced it already? if so update your sig.

Lol, new I should of specified that, sorry for not, but I meant the hard drive dying, settings is irrelevant, that was stupidity.
Settings was Mozilla and uTorrent, dragged them from my profile then it seems asif I never reformatted but they are long gone now, I was just pissed that I restored a backup point without realizing they moved instead of copied.
The powersupply, I only got it really cause I was strapped for cash and it was only NZ$50 (US$30) approx, cheapest PSU I could find (Locally) that was 550W, thats why I thought maybe it was the PSU.
I think you read before I edited the post originally thats where replacing soon came from, the hard drive, I was gonna ask if Samsung was any good but they only have 500GB+ at my local store so I will go Seagate, but if they aren't available I don't mind WD, just prefer Seagate for reliability, WD has a bit of a bad track record here I'm assuming cause they are more experimental than SG (Raptor etc).

Im running seagate barracuda's here and cant fault them perfectly fine, quiet as a bloody mouse and fast if not as fast strangely on accessing as the raptors of mine are.. I think the barracuda here is only in the 7500 range and raptors are 10,000 but heck i see no difference of late.. One platter on the barracuda as well i believe.

Yeah, I was hoping my local shop would have a 320GB with a 32MB cache but it seems only 16MB, would it be wiser to get a 250GB instead with a 32MB cache? I've always had a 320GB as system for my gaming computers, really comes in handy when I'm running low on space on other hdds so was wondering if it would affect me much with the likes of Age Of Conan being 30GB, I don't partition my system or use it for storage, unless desperate, oh and as I was typing this reply I think my comp froze for a few seconds, then the hard drive sounded like it started up again and it went back to normal.
