Combined, the install base for the PS3 and XBOX360 isn't even HALF of what the PS2 is. There just no way you can make long term legit money with having a title on one platform, unless it's just a AAA title (Halo springs to mind). Not even the WII manages to top the PS2's numbers. Video gaming isn't what it used to during the apex of the PS1/PS2 era's.

First Microsoft looses Bungie, Bioware and Bizzare Creations and now Sony also starts loosing its cash cows. Will there be only ONE console made by Sony, Nintendo and MS in cooperation in the foreseeable future to maximize Software profits with a 100% install base (similar to the PC)?
@WHEATTHlNS: We didn't have any huge system sellers in this generation as we had in the last one with GTA3. GTA4 is great but it lacks the wow-factor that GTA3 had.

Microsoft could make more x360 exclusives, they're just to fucking stupid to realize that. A good example is a Shenmue remake, witch, using the x360's hardware potential, could come in handy for them. Remake 1,2 and start working on a 3rd part already!
I'm wondering if Apple thinks about joining the console market(in the next generation, maybe?), a iPlay/iGame or something like that. Of course, with a god damn toutchscreen!

Hmm, as long as that one button is The_fuck_you_button, all's good. Oh, and quad analogs. Just in case.
...and maybe motion plus. Maybe.
On a more serious note, there was that talk, not too long ago, about a Sony universal gamepad, that featured touchscreen-like surface/s, instead of the "old" buttons layout. Basically, using that, for each game you would have a personalized button layout.
That seemed interesting.

Some games on iPhone/iPod use the touchscreen to imitate buttons and it feels like crap compared to a regular gamepad. Since you don't feel the buttons you often end up pressing one by accident.

Yeah, the touchscreen pad idea would be interesting, but at the moment all the games I have played on android and a few on an iPhone have been naff to control when they use a visual pad.
Its a decent idea, but I cant see it working well (and for a decent price) anytime soon.
