As far as I can tell there's no mazing, that must really limit the tactical possibilities.

It does. It's like a flat tower defense or something.
Anyway, I love the Wallnut look as well. lol

I don't understand all the hype over Pixeljunk Monsters. :/
I prefer Defense Grid.
Correcting people since 2007 even if they're not wrong.

No newly released TD games have online multiplayer for some odd reason.

There is evidence that they're adding some sort of online play to Defense Grid. Normally, the game has 57 Steam Achievements, but a couple days ago, the Global Achievements listing for the game suddenly listed a 58th achievement, which no-one had:
Since then, though, it's been removed from the listings. Still, it's pretty obvious that they're testing out something involving multiplayer for the game.
Whether this will be added to the game for free, or if it'll be a paid expansion, is unknown. I'd be glad to pay an extra $5, if that's what they decide to do. I already feel like I got a great deal on the game, so I wouldn't mind paying a little extra at all.

i just beat this game. i got all the tropies (completed adventure once, completed all the mini-games, puzzle, and survival; of course minus the endless ones).
i don't have the missing zombie yet. i'm on my 2nd play-through of the adventure mode to get the missing zombie to appear in the almanac. i also don't have all the different plants filled up in my 3 zen gardens (my tree of wisdom is 165 feet tall).
it's pretty addictive. the game changes thing around enough so that you don't get bored.
beware though. when playing in fullscreen, you'll get black bars on the left and right side of the screen if you have a widescreen lcd monitor like i do (2560x1600). plus it looks very pixelated in full screen. the game doesn't have any option to change the full screen resolution.

It's only 25mb, they couldn't possible make it include various resolutions.
I bought it at 19.99 and think it was worth it. It wasn't a bargain, it's definitely a value game, but it's a good value game.
