New game announced at GDC from Bethesda. It's an online, 2-character co-op, dungeon crawler called Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It's being developed by inXile (who is headed by Brian Fargo which some of us older folk might remember from the good Interplay days of The Bard's Tale). No release date announced other than the typical "When it's done."
His company has the rights to Wasteland and in wikipedia a source is mentioned saying that he is "working on a "spiritual successor" to Fallout 1 & 2."
Maybe this is a smaller project to get the funds for the big one ! Like we've seen other times.
I've been wishing for a Wasteland sequel for 22 years As long as they don't do to it what they did to The Bard's Tale I'm all for it! Personally, I'd love to see a remake/sequel of The Bard's Tale or Wasteland using a system similar to the NWN games. But with the mechanics from the original games (more or less). That probably wouldn't be flashy enough for today's gamers though
This new game sounds interesting but I'll reserve judgment until more info is released. I've generally been happy with all of Bethesda's games EXCEPT for Battlespire and Redguard. Hopefully they don't disappoint with Hunted.
please be isometric, please be turn based....
i pray to thee spaghetti monster
It's 2010, the closest you'll get to isometric, turn-based gameplay is Dragon Age. So hopefully that style is to your liking.
Actually, I would very much like that, thank you
Is this under the same license as the Hunter: The Reckoning games? Couldn't find out about that.Because those, while simple, where fun as hell in co-op.
Don't think so. I think it's a new IP for Bethesda. Here is a better description of the game with a couple more screenshots http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=7434
Um... Why? He wants isometric turn based rpg. Challice is all that and has better combat system than anything Bethesda ever produced.
Heck, I'd even put it next to Dragon Age, and I really did like battles there.
Was referring to what ch00ch was saying about the industry in general; sure you can always find some indie dev willing to go against the flow so to speak, but it's the sad truth that turn-based rpg's are pretty much dead now as far as big development studios (the only ones with big budgets = good production values) go.
I'm also hoping that inXile's Wasteland game would be turn-based and all, but I'm not really expecting it to be.
Another console port of some generic looking fantasy action/rpg hybrid...
I wish Brian Fargo had never discovered 3D graphics.
He made more interesting games back in the day. Even if the best graphics you were likely to see in those days, were of a 2D animated goblin waving his sword up and down.
Edit: Online coop is always welcome though. I would hope more games would feature and expand upon it.
