Quote:

Approximately three hundred years before the game takes place a number of strange artifacts had been found. Named Mysterium Technology, or MysTech, they were believed by some to have been weapons left by a long dead alien race and believed by others to be an alien artform.

A small planetoid-sized reflective sphere, called a Sender, was discovered in space. Long spikes could be seen protruding from its outer shell at regular intervals. A star pilot approaching the Sender noticed a signal being transmitted by one of the spikes. He found himself accelerating toward the Sender and was then transported to another part of space via a hyperspace tunnel. Once ships had been equipped with inertial dampeners, these Senders were regularly used to travel instantaneously from one place to another. Senders became the hubs of lucrative trade and galactic civilization. In the centre of the universe lay the largest Sender, Sender One, which contained Anachronox.

It is believed that Anachronox was home to millions of quarantined aliens many years ago. These aliens are thought to have died from a horrible plague. Anachronox is now largely in ruins and has become the centre of nefarious dealings in the galaxy.

Sly Boots lives in a cheap apartment above Rowdy's, a seedy bar on the seediest street in a section of South Anachronox, called the Bricks. After surviving attacks from a number of mysterious henchmen, Boots is enlisted by a renegade scientist and begins a perilous journey which pits him against some of the most dangerous beings in the universe

Another truly epic game! One that, despite "only" being 8 years old, will forever be a classic. A console-style RPG on the PC, with massive areas to explore, tons of turn-based combat, humorous plot and story telling - and great characters. This game kept me playing for AGES - and I have no problems going back to it every once in a while. Amazing and should be in any gamer's collection! ^_^

Whoa... speak of the devil! We were just talking about this yesterday and I'd forgotten I created this thread Very Happy I'm planning on reinstalling it soon and I'm on Win7-x64, so I'll let you know how it works - if nobody else does in the meantime.

Mine crashes when booting, just the basic "anox.exe has stopped working". I've tried all the compatibility modes... It could be just openGL related problem, which might be fixed with some unofficial drivers for the gfx... but dunno.

DirectX7 games doesn't work on nvidia cards in newer driver revisions.
So it's not a problem with your game, it's your hardware.

You can try lowering/disabling the hardware acceleration of the card.

ive been trying to get this running on windows 7 32 bit

got an ati 5870 so nvidia problems shouldnt apply, yet i still cant get it to run.
tried the official and unofficial patches which didnt work.

ive read somewhere that it could be a problem with the catalyst drivers not supporting opengl anymore?

anyway anyone who could help me it would be greatly appreciated

Opengl support is fucked with newer CCC revisions. Download the file below and put it in your Anachronox folder. It's a dll from an older version of teh control center. By putting it in the gamefolder, the dll in the system folder is bypassed for that particular game.

PS: game works fine with Win7 x64.

PPS: for Nvidia cards, see the second post in link below. nHancer is needed.

Mmkay, would require reverting back to older drivers, I'm too lazy to do that Razz Just having the nHancer and creating the profile didn't help.
