That is one epic bird... no doubt its got that "smile" to scare off animals higher up on the food scale. Anyway, that made my day. If there is a creator, witch I doubt... he/she got humor

It's for a mating ritual, it's common for birds to have some sort of 'display' to signal their genetic superiority in sexual selection. Just like the Peacock, it's an example of the zoology handicap principle.
