Fucking mechs are too overpowered and fast, compared to the first one lol. Was expecting an easy run-shoot the first time a mech is seen in the original game, instead got my heart pumping from trying to escape the bitch from shooting my last life box completely. Laughing The mission where two mechs are hunting you, and you have to shoot some powerful weapon (in Dark Athena), silly me, I tried to kill the fucking things 1000 times, until I realized that wasn't the point (were they invincible anyway?). But yeah, like the Dark Athena campaign more, but damn, that New Venice portion was boring as hell.

Emm, not really, after seeing FFT generated water from Crysis. The water is actually pretty blocky (due to low resolution water shader precision). Smile

@iNatan
you mean you hated those logical jumping similar to mirrors ege

but yeah they made this game too similar to the first part :
Butcher bay
3 levels
2 hubs
Dark Athena
3 levels
1 hub
but all in all game is fine you need 9h to finish part 1 and 7h to finish part 2, would have been less if they added dynamic map hints like flashing lights or SOMETHING to show you where to go

oh and loved the big daddy ending... it made me warm and fuzzy when she jumped on the alpha mech and played GPS for few moments

No, hated the city "OK find old man, go get special gun, go get on the ship". It seemed too pointless ("filler"). But it's cool, no major issues with it. Actually, the part where you have to jump on platforms and hide from the lights was great, loved it. Smile Riddick is a much better Chinese delivery girl from the future. Laughing Music is cooler as well.

still find they should have used some sever gas filled maps... makes the gas mask that you took with the SCAR gun a bit pointless...no?

oh and about the mech part when you redirect the gun after you sneak past them tough the vent, when you LOOK UP you would SEE THIS GUN WAS BLINKING ... flashing or something white... it was kinda funny and made me chuckle when they got sucked into space and one of those hanged in the fuel barrel, so i got ready for a mech fight but nope BOOM he got smacked by a metal pipe that came off Laughing

The voice acting and animation on the prisoners in Dark Athena is superb. It really gives you the impression they're a bunch of psychotic bastards!

Anyone have trouble with that Iron Lord asshole? That massive guy who attacks you while you're hunting for the guard with the gold tooth. I ended up hiding in a corner, then just slashing the shit out of him when he turned his back. Very Happy

Multiplayer probably works just fine but as you say there are probably not many people playing which means there's not many servers up.

EDIT: As for the game I haven't played much as I've been busy with other things but I'm a bit into Dark Athena (Gravity generator) and have replayed trough Butcher Bay's intro sequence. (Before you're tossed into the pit.) so there's still a bit to do before I complete both games, plus those special unlocks if you complete specific challenges. (Sneak trough cargo area in Dark Athena for example.)

the mech in fear 2 was more fun Smile but, at first i found the alpha drones hard to deal with but then once you work out the weakness of them they can be dealt with in under 30 seconds.

Multilayer is pretty bad to begin with and if PC version has console like lobby system that would explain why no one wants to play it.

Yes.

Michelle Forbes also delivers her character brilliantly well. Smile

Yes, he was a tough motherfucker, but finally managed to find a technique that worked. I used the "Peacemaker" club (Laughing) to hit him just after he tries to hit me with his fists. If done correctly, it will hurt him. After few of these, and he was done. Smile

I haven't seen AI this fucking cheap since Alpha Prime. Got to the hangar bay and uninstalled.

*Mechs ALWAYS know where you are, even if you're stealthed and flank them while in stealth, they always turn and walk towards you.
*Enemy has instantaneous and perfect aim no matter what the distance
*Enemy is never staggered and retains perfect aim while being fucking shot in the face
*Enemy can block fucking blade attacks with bare fucking wrists........

I could go on and on. While the voice acting is superb, I can no longer stand playing this heap.
Anyone want my key with presumably 2 activations left for $10?

*mechs can hear you walk !!! but when you sneak in the dark you are invisible to them
*no true , just shot the lights and they can't hit you
*no
*he has a body armor, YOU DON'T ,(only in butcher bay you can buy a bodyarmor ) like Riddick said "My skin is the perfect armor but sometimes i love to upgrade"*jumping down to get a mech suit*

PS. Senior Spykez all mechs can be destroyed by 5-8 shots with a shotgun to the back, in Dark Athena you get a shotgun when you open Margos Locker

From what I've seen in Dark Athena and from what I remember from the old "BB" blocking is very powerful (But aside from cover the only way to defend unless you try to move away.) so even heavy weapons like clubs or bladed weapons like daggers can be blocked albeit the enemy is usually staggered a bit unless it's a heavy opponent.

Can't comment on much else but of course the game isn't perfect, bit hard to implement proper shooting with melee combat (Zeno clash has pretty weak gun combat for example whereas it has good melee combat and Riddick is a mix of both.)

Also in "Dark Athen" are you really supposed to be able to carry everything? in Butcher Bay you were a bit limited (Fists/Blade/Gun basically.) but here I'm carrying around those twin "daggers" a combat knife a steel club plus a shotgun and a rifle along with that hairpin you get in the beginning of the game.
(All have unique attacks though so I do vary which weapons I use, funny to stab someone in the eye with that hairpin or just slashing them with those dual dagger things or totally smashing someone with that "peacemaker" club.)

From what I remember, it was the same in the first one as well, but the amount of weapons was very limited when compared to the Dark Athena ones. Also, most of the time, Riddick wasn't allowed to shoot the assault rifle, and shotgun ammo was very sparse at places. But as for melee weapons, it is the same here. Clubs swap when you pick up others, same with knives. Riddick's signature twin blades are there for the reason of lore, while the hairpin is used for a special boss fight (not sure you can even defeat her without the pin). Smile

I´m still playing the butcher bay part (never played it before) and wow, this game is good Razz. Don´t know how it looked in the past but this version still looks stunning. Loving the gameplay so far, it´s challenging and incredibly fun. Just hope the dark athena part keep almost the same level, despite of the bad reviews...

The game is worth the money though (full price rental aside), so buy it, by the time you run out of activations, you may have a crack to use.

As for the Dark Athena side of the game, I really enjoyed it, especially some of the cut scenes, my only problem was some of it was a bit well lit, which limits your options for stealth.

I have bought it, got a retail copy yesterday. Think i have nearly finished Butchers Bay. Im at the hanger and just have to defeat the two mechs and get on the ship. Some parts of the game have been a bit difficult. Im enjoying it though.

Anybody Fancy arranging a time to get a decent multiplayer match going?

I really want to see what it's all about and pitch black game mode looks fun and a bit like that splinter cell game mode but the MP seems dead so far sadly.

@Newty,I think you have a fair bit to go yet mate if you meant to say Dark athena and not BB.
