Sacrifice

Quote:
Sacrifice is the acclaimed real-time strategy game that focuses on combat instead of resource gathering. The only two resources you'll need to worry about are mana and souls. Need more units? Capture the souls of your enemy. Cast spells of awesome power. Choose which gods to support and you will be rewarded with a different selection of spells.

Banish your enemy by sacrificing one of your allies at his altar...

Oohh right.. I remember playing the demo. It was pretty intriguing, but I never bought or downloaded the full game.
I think I gotta get this...

It's available on GOG for 6$, pretty nice!

I LOVED this game. I was so extremely hyped about it before it first came out, and bought it, and played it to death. It was a really original game back then and blended RTS and third person action perfectly. I've lost the disc since then though, but this thread makes me want to play it again.

I wish Shiny kept on developing brilliant unique games. Earthworm Jim, MDK, Messiah... Sacrifice was their last one before Atari acquired them only to develop half baked movie-licensed games.

Some of the devs from Shiny went on to make Giants: Citizen Kabuto (another awesome game) after this, which is probably why both games resemble each other stylistically.

Yeah, great game. Some of the game mechanics reminded me of Magic & Mayhem.
