Do some swirl motion vectors inside the glass, as if someone has spun the spoon inside. Always looks good.

the sugar still looks to "straight", "hard", it needs to be granulated like real sugar. random holes on the sides if you know what i mean

Also, when a cube is in a hot tea (or whatever liquid), when it starts to melt, it makes bubbles and "steams" from the melting sugar (not sure how to explain the "steams").

get rid of the sugar... its not needed.. Id make the lower base of the fluid more cloudy to compensate for the sugar missing and any blow through on rendering, will make the glass look fuller again from a 3d perspective.
If you must put something in the shot again, how about a nice stainless silver rolex watch and some car keys..
