I just wached Madagascar 2, and it's funny. I recommend star wars clone wars if you are into it. And I'm just about to watch open season 2.

Yeah, the better ones of those children animation films (which removes beowulf and such) are:

Nemo
Ratatoille (was really awesome)
Madagascar 1
Wall-E
Monsters, Inc.
The Incredibles (love it, can watch it over and over again)
Cars was also quite good...

Shrek maybe aswell, but when I think back I don't think it's that great anymore compared to the others, but I really liked it when it was released.

So basically get everything from Pixar!

Oh and also Monster House, this really surprised me, was a lot darker and had a more sinister plot than most other childrens animation films.

And Corpse Bride if you like Tim Burton!

The Iron Giant is one of the best cartoons, ever made. It's not computer animation, but take a look at it.

Shrek (i only recomend the first one).
Hoodwinked - A great movie

Then there are the standard ones Ghost in the Shell, Akira. They are anime but i suggest you watch them both.

Also if you like animated movies you won't go wrong with Disney (Aladdin and so on)

I found Over The Hedge to be quite enjoyable.
But overall, Pixar movies are the best. Only one I didn't like was Ratatouille which everyone else loves. I don't like it because of the stupid young human characters in the movie.
If it would just have been about the rat, i'd probably like it.

this topic should be renamed to childrens animation movies, judging from what was requested and most of the recommendations, but anyway Smile

parallax, try film noir, it resembles renaissance, but it's less polished. can be fun though, if you're willing to overlook some lamer plot developments.

the final fantasies had good gfx, but the plot was absolute nonsense from start to end. ghost in the shell 2, on the other hand still has mindblowing visuals with a followable plot, while still being trippy.

rene laloux has some cool sci-fi adventures, a bit old, but the worlds and the creatures that inhabit them are so out there, that they'd be a shame to miss just based on the age. these are his full-length movies, ordered after my personal preference Smile
fantastic planet
time masters
gandahar

tamala 2010 - a punk cat in space is a sci-fi with cats, here's a description i stole from somewhere else Smile
"mixes both 2D and 3D in a tale of existentialism, outer space, anaconda bitches, bad attitude kitties, zombie dogs and greek cat gods."

another cool cartoon with cats is cat-soup
"it focuses on 2 cat siblings who end up in a bizarre journey in the surreal earth they live on. this includes freezing time, dried up oceans, and many other unexplainable events"

fusiondexterity, take a look at paprika. it's from the same guy that did perfect blue, it looks good and it's trippy as hell.

gingerninja, i'd recommend miyazaki's movies(spirited away, howls moving castle, etc. check fusiondexterity's list). they have fun stories, good graphics and overall excellent art design and, more importantly, they have soul, which is something i'd have a hard time finding in something like shrek, for example.

one of the best cartoons ever, and one which is fun for kids and adults alike is the point. it's a real gem, it has a great story, great narration, excellent soundtrack and it'll put a smile on anyone's face.

edit: for b-movie lovers i'd recommend FSudol's movies:
dead fury has references to a ton of movies, from romero's dead collection to evil dead. it's funny and gory.
city of rott is about senile old man fighting zombies with his walker plus a cool industrial soundtrack.

check the trailers to see if you can stomach the animation. i loved them both Smile

these couple of flicks are both a one-man-show. sudol did everything, which, to me at least, is fucking incredible.

Yea well, It's pretty obvious what I meant. OP mentioned 100% computer animated movies and The Iron Giant certainly isn't that.

And yea a big shame on the no hd Sad
