Hugh Spencer is an awesome dad. Not only is he active in his son Evan's life, but he's a pretty funny guy. When Evan told him he wanted to play Call of Duty: World at War, Hugh eyed the T-rating for the game and worried that the content might not be suitable for his son. So he thought of a compromise.

Introducing the Geneva Convention to Evan, Hugh said he could play the game, but only if he and his team followed the rules set forth in the GC. What makes this so funny is that, in all honesty, the Geneva Convention has no place in this particular FPS. You're not taking prisoners in the game, and even if you could hear the opposing team's cries for mercy online, what could you really do? You can't round them up, place them in shelter, and feed them 3 meals a day. That game is called The Sims.

Also, as good an idea as this was on Hugh's part, we wonder how he planned (if at all) to enforce it. Is he going to sit there and watch little Evan play every single match? Also, do Nazi zombies have rights?

Well, laugh all you want, but this is the most proper way to educate kids. Rolling Eyes Even if the GC have no use in the game, the son has learned what they are. If all parents did that with their kids for most the games they played, we wouldn't have morons like Jack Thompson making games sound like they are the devil, or stupid studies showing games make people numb to violence.

Yeah, at least the Dad got involved in this, most parents just don't care what their children play and then complain afterwards. And maybe the Dad DOES sit next to his son while he plays, that's at least what I would do if I had children...

Stalking? Please. Just because he's involved doesn't mean he's stalking. It means he cares for his son. More parents like this, please.

yeah, to check once in awhile what your kid(s) play and be a little updated on age ratings and such probably wouldn't hurt. I don't think violent games itself affects kids that much. There are other factors that play much bigger roles.

The gfx might be a factor too, 18+ games looks of course much more real now than when I was playing GTA as a kid Razz And even the first one was rated 18 here. Postal 2, Condemned and Fear is games that actually could scare a child. Some kids are more sensitive than others tho.
