The reason of the low score is because at the time it was released it had a lot of bugs. But the Eu version should be fixed.

I never played the original SOCOM but I think I might buy the EU version at retail as it comes with a bluetooth microphone and charging cradle (worth it for that alone). Hopefully it's a smooth release in Europe. Oh and BBCode, good luck getting it to work - I think it may be bugged. You'll just have to find a smaller version of the image I think.

Is this a tactical squad-based shooter?

Yes, it looks like a kind of mix between Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon and Counter-Strike. I've not played it yet though so I could be off-base.

Loading times aren't great, and in some of the ranked matches I played in the teams can become unbalanced quite quickly. Some aspects of this game are little workmanlike, and it's not outstanding in any way, but the gameplay is what counts and it appears to have enough depth and challenge to keep things interesting and fun. The different weapons and loadouts are a plus point, and the realistic bent to combat is satisfying.

I have to say the controls are very, very easy to use as well. I don't know if there is any subtle auto-aim (?) but I had no problems getting up to speed. The only place I missed my mouse was in the menus when kitting out. I especially like the way you can use the controllers motion-axis to lean around corners. It feels natural, and is incredibly useful - it's also one of those rare occasions where the motion controls aren't simply used as a gimmick.

Anyway, so far so good, and I've applied to join your clan Bogo.
