Ize is correct.
There will be no monthly fee for this game, they will however charge for the large content pushes, and they promise to do many of them (which they better if they want to stay in business).
This event is also a kickoff for the closed beta test, I think they will have signups for that soon.
Last event everyone was locked at level 14, in this event there will be some level gaining.
Hopefully they will extend this event by a few days like they did last time.
It is a very fun game, I encourage everyone to check it out.

The game has excellent graphics, excellent combat and no fee´s damn. This is a dream come true. I´ve played alot of MMORPGs and the best 1 i played was WOW till now, i think for me WOW and GW will be the cremedelacreme.

The problem is that if you want your game to expand, and if you want to play with more players, weapns etc..you need the addons right?
That my sum up good.

well, they promissed to balance the game in a way that you can buy only the original and no addons whatsoever, and still be competitive even without all the new skills, weapons and stuff from the addons, i personally love the idea, cuz a game like everquest not only has montly fees but releases a lot of addons as well, so one less thing to waste your money, i found the game pretty fun, played on tha e3 event
but in no way it can me considered a "full" mmorpg, i would call it a action rpg online, the onky mmorpg part of it in my point of view are the cities where you can trade and all, but the playing itdelf cant be done with more then like what 8/16 players depending on the mission? i dont quite remenber, still fun though
i mean a mmorpg for me is something like UO, you can build a house have a job, the world is persistent etc...

Here's how they have claimed the expansions are going to work.
Core games comes out - Everyone is playing.
Expansion #1 comes out - Player Bobby buys it, but Player Roger does not.
Bobby will have access to new weapons, skills, zones, etc.
Roger will not be able to directly access these things on his own.
However, Bobby can INVITE Roger into the new zones. As long as Roger is invited, he can enter the new zones, however he cannot enter them on his own.
Roger, even when invited into new areas, will still not have access to new weapons/skills.
As for the skill focus, that is a major part of the game.
Even someone who is level 5 will only be able to "equip" 8 skills into battle (8 or 10 I forget the exact number).
Someone who is level 25 will still only be able to equip 8 skills as well. So the level 5 and 25 will still be on an equal playing field so to speak, just the level 25 will have a more diverse library of skills. But in this method, the level 5 still has a chance. Unlike todays games where a high level player can stomp a low level character without a second thought.
Of course the level 25 will have an advantage, but the point is, he still has a chance. With everyone "equiping" 8 skills only, this requires people to really organize their groups and roles in the group. I really like this system. This prevents one class from overpowering everything, there will always be an assortment of people/skills out there to challenge even the highest level players with their formulas for combat.
Then you throw in the expansion packs with new skills, and the challenges start all over again.

It was a good game during the E3 try out thing, but the graphics are god awful compared to say WoW or Everquest 2. GOD-AWFUL. But maybe the gameplay and no monthly charges will change how it goes with gamers.

Well during the E3 tryout I remember boring and bland backgrounds, flat character design and unimpressive animations. Perhaps it wasnt so wise to release such an unfinished preview? it certainly effects how people look at it (like me). Maybe it will change, I will find out during the weekend preview.

Or it weeds out the people who don't understand what the hell they were doing there.
Please don't play again. Ever.

I see your point, WOW doesn´t have impressive graphics but it´s the feel that it brings which is quite special actually. I´m in the WOW EU Beta and i know people that have played EQ2 and are also in the beta, they say they forgot about EQ2 once they tried WOW, point is, even though that EQ2 is far more superior when it comes to graphics, it´s not better at all, coz the setting and feel that WOW has is unlike any other MMORPG, everytime i walk around the world i am dazzled by the great detail that blizzard has put into the world. Unlike the detail that is in EQ2, it´s nice but i feel that EQ2 has a very dead setting and a very artificial and grey feeling to it (like Lineage2 which i also Beta tested) If GW can pull this off which it can judging from the screenshots, it's really going to be amazing.

The game has been made by ArenaNet. For those that don’t know, ArenaNet is a company founded by former senior Blizzard staff members, including the creator of Battle.net, the lead designer of StarCraft, and the original lead designers of World of Warcraft and of Warcraft III.

The connection client is small, once you're connected, the pieces of the game you need are streamed to you in real time.

yeh, except the speeds are terrible. About a half hour for the initial pre-load, then another 3 hours (estimated) to play (at 5-10KB/s). Hopefully they'll upgrade the servers soon.

Much rockier start than last time.
