|
 |
How the hell do I get rid of xbox live gold?
I never used it apart from the free month and thought it was canceled, but apparently I have been billed 6.99€ every month for the last 2 years without even subscribing.
On xboxlive.com it says:
Quote: | Membership Level
Gold Membership
Renews on: 01/01/2007 |
I don't even have an xbox 360 anymore so I'd really like to stop microsoft from taking any more of my money :P
Any ideas? lol

which country are you in ?
If UK go here and use the number to talk to them if outside UK set the language setting to your country to get your local number to call.

Just go to the main site, login and you should be able to update your billing there shouldn't you?

The website just shows you that you have Gold Membership, but doesn't give you a way to change it. It sucks.
I read somewhere that even if you change your credit card info to something that won't be accepted, they will keep billing with your old info, so that's probably not an option either.
So you have to call customer support to cancel xbox live gold?
k, guess I'll have to try that tomorrow. Missed them for today, only to 5pm on sundays.
But anyway, this really sucks. Why is it so hard to cancel this shit? It's ridiculous to not allow you to do it on the website.. pff.

Microsoft really are fucking assholes about this. I had a monthly subsription fee tied with a credit card. The card expired or some shit, and it couldnt renew my gold. What it did, is it banned my account and wanted me to pay just to have it back.

Not sure, it was 2 years ago.
I suppose I thought it couldn't hurt to enter them in case I wanted to buy something on the xbox live store or whatever.
I most likely didn't expect them to just go and sign me up for xbox live gold just because I entered the CC info...

Isn't that how usually these "free" offers are given, you have to put a credit card and if you forget to cancel exactly when the "free" offer is finished, you get billed.

Microsoft won't just sign you for Gold if you didn't want it. The monthly free tries stop when that month has ended, nothing else happens. So you probably got Gold and forgot about it.
You could call them, but I seem to remember that you could just end it on the site like previously mentioned.

why would anyone use credit card for gold anyway?
just get cheap prepaid card from ebay or places alike [50% off], so are the m$ points, much cheaper on-line rather than from official sources

best thread title ever .
Cancel the order and if the account hasn't been logged into maybe try and come to an arrangement with ms , really doubt a refund might be on offer but might get some good will offers off free stuff for your trouble

Impossible Thread to be honest where you claim to say you never subsribed.
Got a nice box myself and I must say Ms has the best service I have seen sofar.
When you subscribe to Xbox live then you choise uself a way of payment , so if you add in there you CC info include how you wanna pay for it then you hooked uself up for a nice xbox live account , second I wonder what you been doing the last 2 years without looking on you monthly CC bill you get every single month, or do you use it as toilet paper.
Naah stupid thread and bullshit tittle.

I didn't notice because back then I didn't have my own credit card yet and used my father's card.
He didn't know I wasn't using xbox live and thought it was fine.
Anyway, what probably happened was that I decided to get 1 month of xbox live gold, and didn't realize that it would auto-renew without asking me when a credit card is entered as payment information.
But it's all good now, successfully canceled it today by phone, worked well enough.

Yes this is true, they always have these small leter " * Oh btw, if you don't remember to cancel only between this and that date, we will charge your card " contracts. I had this with a few Usenet providers who offered free trials and IMDb pro also has it.

This is stupid sorry u r stupid this is 100% down to the you the consumer , u must have signed up to gold to gold to begin with thus u entered the credit card details, they then dont ask u every month do u want to carry on they expect u as an adult to cancel when u r finished with it, i think the best bet for u is to look and see when u sign in to live your name is in gold thus gold account active if it had been silver then silver account. welcome to the grown up world of responsability and being held accounatble for your actions.
As for framerate, the 360 version runs smooth, while the PS3 is a jaggy mess that chugs along in slow motion.

It should be common sense that if you have to give a company chargeable details for a 'free trial' that in the majority of cases they intend to automatically renew it. Almost all porn sites are like this. |
I know about porn sites, but I don't pay for porn... It used to be so only in porn sites, but now this method of scam is everywhere, sadly..
