Wow, those look pretty small(even considering that they are shown without a cooler) when compared with Nvidia's behemoth cards.

Those are supposed to use 45nm fab process, right?
Me likes. Very Happy

Here's what wiki says about R800:

Quote:
The Radeon R800 will be launched on a 40 nm fabrication process, with 2000 stream processors and compatible with the next major version of the DirectX API, DirectX 11 which is aimed at a 2009 launch.

News reports suggest that RV870 will be launched in late June 2009 with 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory.

Basically a super charged modernization of the R700 chip (2000 SP's instead of 800). However, nothing is set in stone except in the innermost corners of ATI engineering.

"dx10.1 now with dx11 for refresh revision " - that seems really dubious and false. DX11 includes a new hardware tesselation engine, not something you just slap on in a "refresh revision". Those images and specs does have some fishy stuff to them, but I can't claim with certainty that they're fake.

It'll be exciting to see what ATI will do about the 285/295 though.

Hm, considering the current heat issues with the 7840 I am pretty sure the pics above are fake. There is no way they could handle effective heat dispersion with current mainstream technology.
And cheers for the Wiki info. Late June, let's call it August suits me fine. I guess I will start to look for a new system around then anyway.

the whole master/slave chip concept is quite interesting...but 5 chips? what for? dual 30" monitors? Laughing

it's just overkill, like the voodoo5 6000 back in the day. and for 5 chips, you'd probably need 4 power connectors, if not even a psu just for the card

btw: the concept pcb pic looks photoshopped...when designing smaller/slower cards, you don't just simply cut away stuff from the flagship one. and why has the 5650 condurctor paths to a chip that doesn't exist? Laughing
