Hey all, I just bought a DVD player for a relative of mine, but I have this problem. He has a old tv, so I have to use scart-to-scart to plug it in, as his TV has no s-video or composite video.

I turn it on and everything, it can play dvds and even movies from my USB stick (even though the dvd player only cost like 40 bucks. But the problem is, that I get no color...

I go into the menu, and I can choose the videomode, the ones I can choose are:

Off
YUV
RGB

Obviously, I should pick RGB right? But when I do, it just turns black, and the movie keeps running (I can hear the audio). If I press the Video button on the controller, it switches to Off in the menu, so I can see things again. But it won't be in color. Black and white.

Even if I choose YUV, it won't use any colors. But I can't use a composite cable, the tv has no input for it, so it's obvious why YUV doesn't work.

I just don't get why RGB doesn't work.

These are the ones I bought:
Limited Label Beluga DVD40

Yeah, I know, it's a non-known brand, but I read reviews and stuff, people seemed to have no problems with it. It should be working. For the record, Ja means Yes, and Nej means No if you're looking at the specs.

And this is the scart cable I bought:

Anyone who knows why it won't show any picture/video when I switch it to RGB, which it should be switched to? For the record, the TV has always worked with Scart cables when playing various consoles over the years... And it still works with Playstation 1 (the only console she still has.

It could be an issue with NTSC/PAL incompatibility. Being an old TV, it could be that the player is playing in NTSC while your TV can handle only PAL.

Another issue could be something in the cable, it happened to my relatively old TV in my room as well. Couldn't explain why, because the laptop was clearly broadcasting in PAL. I replaced the cable with another one (not the same make), and it worked.

No color seems to ring a bell for me. You should be able to call into customer service. I think your composite video might be wrong.

(just read you got it fixed)
