How much do you like console gaming? |
Love it. I'll never buy a PC for gaming. A console is all I want. |

I just wanted to know if there were others like me who used to play PC games and just recently bought a console, as well as their thoughts on that (hence the poll).
I for one won't be buying a PC for gaming ever again.

Actually, I'm split quite happily. I have a kick-ass PC for the latest games .. and I have a 360/PSP for my other gaming needs.
Best of both worlds, baby! Ain't nothin' like it!

One of my gripes with PC gaming is the keyboard+mouse combo.
If you take the time to think about it you only get ONE analog input and a bunch of buttons, whereas a gamepad provides two analogue sticks and two analogue triggers. This creates gameplay problems between PC and console versions as the developers don't have a specific input to design their games upon and most times favor one version over the other (something Microsoft is trying to combat with their 360 controller).
I find that a good gamepad provides the best gaming experience, something I can illustrate with this example:
In most PC games you use WASD and the avatar suddenly (like he gets tazered) starts walking at a given speed. When you press Shift+WASD he immediately starts running in the given direction. In contrast, in most console games you can slightly tilt the left stick and the avatar starts walking and then gradually speeds up the more you tilt the stick. Also he can walk in every possible angle and not just up, down, right, left and diagonally.

Best FPS control wise on the 360 is COD 4. Very precise and reliable

I have both consoles and since I upgraded, I barely play my consoles. The only games I end up going back to are MGS4 (reason I bought PS3), cant even get sick of playing MGS. Must have played through it like 3 times or so. I wait a month or 2 and start a new game and play it through. My fav game of all time.
And I still play the Bourne Conspiracy cuz I love the fighting in it

I don't play on my consoles very often. I still want to have one though, for some games not available on pc. PC will always be number one for me though since I'm so much into hardware etc. Been using them since i was like 10 yrs old (22 now).

I've always played both and have done for about 15 years.
However, over the past 12 months or so, I've noticed I rarely use my PC for gaming other than some old classics such as Civ 4.
I think I've just got different priorities to blow £800 on a PC when you can pickup 8 xbox 360's consoles for that price.
Most games major releases are multiformat so console from here on in. (Unless they make a decent remake of Elite)
My PC is pretty much exclusively used for porn, email and piracey.

Same, it's just so much more convenient.

Oh and to add a bit of clarification; I'm *pretty much* with most of you guys here. Bought a 360 in Feb this year, flashed it, and have pretty much doubled the PC's gametime on it. I play my 360 much more than I play my PC, but it's always nice to have a great PC for when new games come out.

Much more on the pc if the game comes out on both there is no competition where I'll play, I only recently finished the star wars game and it had that tearing problems, it was sitting on the shelf for months and months.

I like sports games on the console.
Some RPG's.
I FUCKING HATE a gamepad in FPS games. It freaking sucks. Period.
I enjoy my consoles, but i enjoy my PC much much more.
If something comes out on console and it also comes out on PC, I am more than 90% likely to rather play it on my PC. I can't think of a title that came out for both that I didn't prefer playing on my PC... except for football games.

I was like that when I first got my xbox. I'd used a mouse and keyboard for about a decade of gaming and switching to joypad was rubbish.
However, got my 360 back in November 05 so 3 years later, I'm much better with a controller and M+K just feels wrong. PC has 1 digital and 1 analogue input which just feels old and crap now. (i.e. mouse + asdw while at least controller has 2 analoges)

Hmm i would say that there are some games which i enjoy more on the xbox then on pc. Like arcade and racing . But when it comes to fps and strategy games i prefer the pc. I don't want to put all in white in black. Both systems have positive and negative sides. But at the end i still prefer the pc knowing that some will live further because of the mod community. Like battlefield 2 or Arma.

I used to love PC gaming and wasn't into consoles since N64. I remmeber I bought a Radeon x850XT Platinum Edition when it first came out and it was awesome for just a few months until newer games started coming out. And then I was going to build a new PC. But for some crazy reason I decided to checkout the Xbox360 specs and took a gamble and just bought it in 2006.
I absolutely love it. One of the best decisions Ive made. I think Im a hardcore xbox fan now. Everything is just so much easier and hassle free on console. During my PC gaming days, I used to be a framerate freak. I overclocked my card and ran various tests and change around options and crap just to make sure I get the best possible framerate/visual quality. It was such a gigantic hassle. FUCK THAT!
I currently have a HIS Radeon HD 4850 just sitting on my dinning table in a box (I didn't buy it. It was a gift from family member). My PC doesn't have a PCI express slot and I dont even have the urge to buy a new motherboard. I do still play only one old Pc game from time to time (every 5 or 6 months); Raven Shield multilayer. But besides that, PC gaming dead to me.

I primarily game on consoles, as I like it the best, but I have nothing negative to say against PC gaming.
I will always keep a decent PC around, not to compete with my console, but to play PC exclusives whenever they arrive (StarCraft II, Diablo III, etc.)
So basically I went for the "love it" answer, but I still keep my PC around for exclusives.

PC used to be king. I remember when it had insane exclusives like Stars Wars: Knights of The Old Republic. That was probably the best game Ive ever played in my entire life. And when Doom 3 first came out, that game was jaw dropping. Oh and there is probably no words to describe HL2 when it first came out lol

I like the PC for certain games. I play WoW every now and then, and L4D with friends. However, I suffer from carpal tunnel (or repetitive strain) from years of competitive counterstrike/team fortress. With the 360 controller, I get no wrist pain, and I don't have to sit hunched over a keyboard (I can relax on the couch with a big screen). I don't even have to bring up the popularity of consoles compared with PC games, or the necessity of constantly upgrading a PC to keep up with the newest games.

Console - it's just more comfortable. Of course there are strategy games only pc can handle, but on the rpg side pc is loosing. There are virtually no more games like old Baldur's Gate, we have Mass Effect-like games instead, that can be played on console.
Racing games, beat-em ups - console wins.
As for Diablo 3... I won't upgrade my PC, I am pretty sure my MacBook Pro can handle it.

As people have said previously in this thread - i mainly game on my 360, but i have a decent PC should I want to play any new game.
But i actually rarely play any PC game, except for CoD4. Im just so sick of patches, drivers, settings, cracks, crashes etc. That's why I rather play on the 360.
