neah , some studios rearrange their release dates so that they wont have any holes in upcoming months , years , or even need more post production work .. others are just plain finished and are shelved cause they sucked , this , like The Road (you will be talking alot about this movie when it will come out , if you read the book then you know what i'm talking about ) was filmed more than one year ago but needid more post production work than initally thought.

oh yeah , the original story is based on one written by Richard Matheson for a Twilight Zone Episode called Button , Button .

Hrrmm.. well whats another carcass of flesh when over the planet up to 100 people die within a minute from millions of possible causes? We're all just "leasing out" our existence in a speck of sand in a universe of beach front property.

So the whole movie is about starring at a box on the kitchen table waiting to see who get the mil or who somewhere on terra ferma bites the farm massively? Bah.. as fascinating as watching baseball or paint drying.

The button is actually the red Staples' "THAT WAS EASY" button. Bah! Movie sounds as interesting as that 2hrs wasted "I see dead people" movie. Gawd that whole movie could have been an episode of any paranormal TV series. Sigh. Thank gawd I download movies not paying for anything anymore.

watched the shitty sound rip with headphones
ok , Donnie Darko is my top list , original , creative , unique , Southland Tales had good prodution value , but the fuck was that about , i understood something , but it was pretentious bullshit , sadly.

The Box , great production value aswell , camera , cgi 70s city and great sets , Langella's face looks cgi-ish tho , and the cgi water looks pretty bad .
all that aside , it's a pretty cool flick , it surely aint superb since it's not explained that well , n'or does it have the Darko ambiguity .
i love how Kelly focuses on quotes and pictures (like in Darko) , he does the same thing here , but with more effect than Southland , Sartre's idea of hell , Arthur C Clarke's quote about magic and tehnology , etc , intersting stuff.
The movie is pretty much tense , alot of tension is felt throughout the movie , and that's pretty good since it's asking for such thing . some might think that the subject matter is bullshit and the task of pushing such button is too simple , but here he really fouses on 'what if' thing happend to you.
i don't want to spoil anything but the twists and turns (if you can call them so) are pretty interesting , not really formulaic , but nicely laid down even if not so well executed.the explanation of who's pulling the strings is pretty 'out there' , its too much and too simple , and even if kelly kept it like that , i still think he could have expanded it into something better.
the acting from Langella and Marsden is good , convincing and engaging , Diaz on the other hand is alright , i don't think she should have used the southern accent cause nobody else is using it , its annoying , and sometimes she does a good job , but most time she fals pretty flat.
oh and the score is pretty good and well adapted , Hermannesque , but still really good.

The Box will proably suffer the Knowing effect , some might love it , some might hate it , but i'd give it a 7.5/10 or maybe an 8 with better quality.
