Meh, this is becoming a weekly occurrence it seems. I managed to blow up another keyboard by spilling a drink onto it at 6am in the morning.. So after buying a M$ Entertainment Desktop 7000 for £120, have the mouse die and now the keyboard go boom I need a new keyboard.

I currently have 2 in mind..

Sidewinder X6

and

Razer Lycosa

Does anyone have any experience of these keyboards? Also looking for other suggestions.. Please be aware I want a laptop style keyboard, not one of these clunky old school ones.

I grabbed a cheapish M$ one to tide me over and whilst its "thin keyed" its not laptop style and the RSI is kicking in after only writing this post.. Sad[/url]

seriously when it comes to keyboards I think it's pretty useless to buy an expensive one , 20$ at best
I mean C'mon a 10$ keyboard does the same fucking thing , doesn't build rockets with them

nothing beats a lenovo style laptop keyboard

I've heard good things about that razer but I'm done buying razer stuff. They've treated me well, but im tired of all the god damn LED rape they put on their products as if EVERYONE likes the crap.

The issue with cheap keyboards is that if you use a computer for as long as I do (think, constantly when I am awake.. 8 hours at work then when I get home playing games) they begin to cause RSI. Generally (not always) cheaper keyboards are harder to use on the hands and wrists, the one I'm using now is killing me..

Oh, and it was half a glass of coke that I spilt.. its the same way I killed the last 2 Razz..

That one is a little bit *too* laptop like, I'm looking for the same keys as a laptop type keyboard but hopefully desktop sized.

I like razer products as I have yet to have one thats been a disappointment (I dont consider the Habu to be a razer product.. but it did suck.. bad..). I stick with them as I trust the brand and the quality. Thats not to say that the keyboards are any good though, so I'll hopefully be able to find some feedback on them here..

Syn, have you looked at the Logitech Wave? Not really laptop-like, but still silent and very comfortable - great for long sittings.

No idea what cox is on about.
But the razer lycosa is good, I got one for my second computer.
I also got the logitech G15, I love the lcd on that for teamspeak, plus the keys are alright to press, not as good as the lycosa though, you 'feel' the keypress better with the lycosa.

I almost bought this as a temp keyboard but decided it was a tad pricey for short term use. It was a nice board but not something I want to be using long term, the keys just didn't sit well with me.

How does this compare to the MX5500 (I think thats the one I tried).. I gave that a go today and it was decent enough but I found it to not sit well with me. I felt like I could get a better keyboard for the same price. What kind of keys does the G15 have?

Good to hear a positive lycosa review! How are the keys (touch wise, they are covered in the rubber type stuff, is that not odd? does it not get dirty or anything?).. What do they feel like to press?

They keys took some getting used to at first, certainly it's not for everyone, but the keys are nice when you use the keyboard at many hours every day for work and gaming.
Certainly you shouldn't use the keyboard if you got some sort of liquid on your fingers or tend to sweat alot in your hands because then I guess it could feel like the keys could stick to your fingers.
The keys glide down nicely with a low clicking sound, not at all like my logitech which is noisy in comparison, so if you're looking for an IBM 104 standard keyboard this isn't it.
If thats what you're looking for you should get a Das Keyboard, where you can hear a very loud clicking sound and it's just like pressing one of those old keyboards.
The lycosa is for me a more enjoyable experience and I feel like my fingers just fly around the keyboard.
Theres also the Lycosa Mirror, that doesn't have the rubbery surface on the keys, the keys are supposed to be very smooth there with a glass like surface.

The new board just arrived and WOW, I can totally see what you mean about the keys, they're so awesome to type on.. they feel great.. Its actually a rather odd feeling when compaired with all the other keyboards I've owned and tried! I am certainly happy with my purchase so far, although it will take a little bit of getting used too!

Good call Epsilon!

How much did you pay for it? I've looked here in Cro and it's about 65£, a tad bit too much for me but if you are using it constantly I guess it's not that expensive. It looks cool tho...

Its odd, in normal keyboard mode the light is dull, it almost looks like there is no light and that the lettering is painted on. However in "WASD" mode in which only the wasd keys are lit the light is far brighter, it still looks ok to me. The fading of the lights makes it though, shows the true craftsmanship of the keyboard.

I've bought from them many times before, they're a great company. It is odd that the price is so cheap, it is more expensive on some other websites.. Still, the plastic used on the keys annoys the crap out of me, so I avoided it.

I went for the shop below.
